Hi All,

I ve been using My YO Speed for the past 3 Months.

Reason for me Buying it:

I bought it for my dad(age 58). My native place is Pondicherry which is a very small place (7 to 8 kms in radius approx.) So I thought an e bike would be a good choice for him to go to office daily. I work in Chennai and I go to Pondy every weekend and I needed a vehicle to use in the weekends. Above everthing, cost efficent. I wont say it is 100% cost efficient cos of the high battery price.

My research:

*I looked only on 2 bykes which looked standard for me. One was TVS Scooty Teenz Electric and another was Yo Speed. My main factors were comfort, pickup, cost, range and Maintenance. I had test rides on both the vehicles. What I concluded was, YO Speed was better than TVS Scooty EV in all the other factors except cost. When I enquired TVS was 30 K  and YOSpeed was 35K in my place.

*Initial Impressions:

After so much of research and analysis I decided to buy the YO Speed. I bought the Red colour variant for Rs 32, 465.00(on road, on discount). It was solid and smooth. Brakes were not that responsive. Pickup was too good for an ebike. I did some testes on the vehicle and what I observed were these.

Charging time - 8 hours(0 to full charge)

Range - Singles(i am 80 KGs) -(50Kms/Full charge)( My dealer promised 70:-))

Doubles(around 145 Kgs) -(45Kms)

Pick up Test(rather. load test) - I was amazed when the vehicle moved even after loaded with 190 Kgs on it(3 persons)

Comfort - was very good initially.

Top speed: 45 Kmph - singles and 43 Kmph -doubles

Looks: Looks like a normal scooterette only(not crazy as the local ones)

Handling: Pretty good, was easy turning and moving around.

Build Quality: Better than TVS product but not worth for the Price

Others: Light was bright and clear and with all these, the ease, comfort and riding pleasure of an e bike, smooth and breezy.(i enjoy it every week, in the Old harbour road in my town:-))

*The Present:

*      The bike has run 3448 Kms(just in 3 months) till yesterday. I have'nt spent even a paise on maintenance, not even during services(except checking air pressure every week). My dad is totally happy with the bike. It has definitely suited him very much. Now the only vehicle used in my house is the YO Speed(by my dad, bro and me).

The vehicles has gone for 2 services, the problem I have with my Yo speed is front brake and front shock absorbers. The front brakes give a squealing sound when the front brakes are applied(i think the front brake shoes have gone). The sound is so loud that the whole crowd around looks at me once. I asked the dealer(mech who attended me during the service) to fix it. He did something and it was good for the first week and soon after a week the front brakes were in the same state. Gotta ask the Mechanic to fix it properly in the next service atleast. Then, the front shock absorbers have become too hard. It has become a little uncomfortable when I ride on rough roads.

The Mileage, pick up and the range has’nt shown any big variations since I bought the vehicle.

Only the ride quality has gone down a little bit. Otherwise, I am a Proud owner of Yo Speed.

*For whom is this bike(according to me) ?

Definitely not for Power lovers. It will suit for people who dont want too much of speed, for people who live in small and crowded places like Pondy(i am no able to go my full 45 kmph most of the times) and for people who do not travel long.

*My verdict:

*      I am pretty much happy with the bike’s performance as of now. Before buying it, please analyse your real requirements and usage and then decide whether to go for the vehicle. For my kind of requirement this bike will be the best choice.

SO FAR SOOO GOOD. Will keep you people updated about my e-bike often. Feel free to post your views, comments and questions.

Cheers

UPDATE

Hi all,

First of all, thank you every one for spending time in going through this review, commenting and rating it. I am back again to give some updates on "Vignesh's Yo-Speed".

Well. The past one month has been a little rough time for me and my Yo speed.

Till date the bike has clocked 6760 Kms. It went for the second servicing last month and from there my problems started. First, the head light stopped working. My brother took it to the dealer and fixed it. It seems there was a problem with the headlight switch after servicing. They fixed it free of cost. Next, the Fan in my charger stopped working. I sent it back to the dealer to have it fixed. He gave me a charger of Yo Smart to use during the replacement time. I tried charging the vehicle with it. The vehicle didnt get charged properly. Not even once it got charged fully. The mileage I got was just 20-24 Kms(even after charging for 14 hrs) . I got irritated to the core and went to the dealer and got another charger(this time another Yo Speed charger).

Again the same problem, but in a different dimension. This time the charge level indicator in the charger had a problem. The charger stopped charging before the vehicle charge was full. I again spoke with the dealer about the problem. I got frustrated when they kept on saying that they havent got their stock yet(for 1 month). Finally, last week, I got my same old charger serviced and everything is back to form. This time, the dealer charged me 300 Rs for servicing and fitting a new car fuse in the bike. It seems the fuse in the bike got fused out because of improper charging, (i am not sure abt this). But anyways. now things are fine. The pick up and mileage have jumped back. I am getting around 50 with my serviced old charger(happy ending story.) So. the point I am trying to convey is. The Charger is also important. If your mileage is getting low, look at the charger also(like, charging pattern and charging time). The problem might be because of  the charger also. Well. Thanks again.

Will keep you posted about my bike. Pour in your questions and comments.

Cheers

Vignesh
