I have been using Yo Speed since Nov 2007. I had purchased it for 36K. Considering it mileage per charge, speed and environmental friendliness I had purchased this byke. I use it for going to office and market with in the city limits. It is the best byke for this purpose. If you need a vehicle for traveling daily with in the city limits(20Km radius) it is the best buy. As promised by the comp it does not give the mileage of 75Km/full charge. For me it comes up to 50Km/full charge for single person and 40Km/charge for doubles. I asked the dealer about it, he said it will increase after the first servicing. I haven't got done one yet. Will update this review if I find any difference after the servicing. As per speed it travels at 45Km/hr for singles and 40Km/hr for doubles which is good considering traffic and roads in Indian cities. I have heard people complaining about the tyres of Yo bykes. The tyres for Yo speed are of good quality(Dunlop tyres). The pros and cons of this Byke are:

Pros:

Less running cost, Environmental Friendly, Good Speed( compared with other variants of Electric bykes).

Cons:

Very expensive( considering the components and build of the Byke), Mileage /charge is not as stated by the comp.

It about time to update the review. I have been using the byke for about 10 months. It has travelled more then 3000Km by now. Most of the time two people travel on it. During this time I have not encountered any problem with the byke. After the first few servicings the miliage per charge has also increased by about 10KM. There have been no problem till now except for once replacement of electric fuse. I have ridden it in heavy rains as well as water logged roads and it did not give any problem. Few point and answers to some of your question I would like to mention here are.

  1. Batteries can't be removed from the byke and can't be charged seperately. There are a total of four batteries in the byke. Two are under the seat and the rest two are under the drivers foot rest . The charger is a seperate unit so u can use an extension cord or do some other arrangement to charge it if the power point is far off. Removal of battery from the byke to charge is out of question with Yo Speed.

  2. Apartment/Group house dwellers, it is difficult for you to charge the byke because of the location. If you building association allows you to use the power point in the parking or if you can think of another solution then you can go ahead with the purchase of the byke.

  3. Max Speed is 40 - 45 Km for double and single ride respectively.

  4. Milage is 50 - 55 Km/charge for double ride and 60 - 65 Km/Charge for single rider.

  5. There is no problem in using it in Heavy Rain but take care not to submerge it in water logged areas. If you ever need to cross a water logged area try to do it in one go, don't stop it in between the water and wait.

  6. In heavy traffic just keep it slow and move with the traffic and avoid unnecessary high speed ride for small distances. This way you will apply less brake and conserve less energy and will not drain the battery unncessarily. When the road is traffic free you can go at the max speed.

  7. As the body structure is not of high standards so in bumpy roads avoid going at high speeds. On good roads it gives you a very smooth noise less ride.

  8. Keep some Spare Fuses with you always. There are two fuses in the byke. One is under the seat near the MSB switch and is easy to locate. There is another fuse connecting two wires and can't be easily located. It is difficult for me to describe the location here. So on the next visit to the dealer or service centre remember to ask the technician about the location of the second fuse.

  9. The price of this byke was about Rs 38000 a year back. Some of the state Govts are now providing subsidy on such bykes so they must be cheap in those states.

  10. Full charging time is arround 7-8 hrs.

  11. An important point for new users is that for first few times they should discharge the battery completely before charging it. When you have mostly used up the charge in the byke and think of charging it but still some charge is left in the batteries, switch on all the light and start the byke in the stand position and turn the accelerator to full and put some tape on the accelerator to discharge the batteries. When the batteries are discharged charge the byke again. Do this for 2 to 3 times.

If you face problem in starting your byke, here are some point to cross check.

  1. Check whether the key is in ON position, if not put it in ON and try again.

  2. Check whether the MCB is in ON position or not, if not put it in ON and try again.

  3. Check whether the Charging switch is in Running state, if not change it to running state.

  4. Check for both the fuses and replace it if any of those is faulty.

  5. Still if the byke does not start, call the dealer or the service center they will send you a technician to fix the issue.
