Yo Smart. Review on Yo Smart

Hi friends, My Yo Smart is just a week old and I know its not yet time for a review. But I’ll put down my initial impression. I bought is primarily for my wife( working about 5 kms from home). She does not have a DL and the Yo smart is the most hassle free when I looked at it. No trouble for me to see that she gets herself a DL! Since she just learning, I take the pleasure to ride it to work, leaving my Alto in my garage. As you might be aware its powered by a 250W motor and as expected, the power is very low. You need to relearn to drive on this machine.

Initially if u are used to riding a IC motor, you might find the routine a pain in the ".", but as you go along, you might as well appreciate the beauty of slow things.! Always be at caution when you attempt to overtake, remember, you a a very low pick-up( acceleration) and so its best to be rather modest while you travel. Overall its a comfortable vehicle, though the seat could do with some extra cushioning. The economy as you all know is pretty great. The battery bank replacement cost of Rs.6000 can also be justified since a Sealed lead acid will last for 2 years if you don't torture it. You may calculate the per km cost of battery in your expected run in 2 years( keeping of say 50kms/day as the maximum limit!).

I have taken 50 kms per day since the batt performance will deteriorate as charge cycles increase. One full charge cannot take more than 1 unit since the battery bank is a 48V20AH one, and I dont guess more than 80% will be allowed by the controller to be used. So economy is quite attractive. The bike is also very stable unlike a couple of other models that I tried out. Always test ride a Ebike before purchasing. I have not bothered to test my per charge mileage yet, . I ride just about 20 kms per day and I charge my bike daily( that will keep the batt in the best condition possible). I will add more later as I learn more. Bye for now.

One other caution: Sice there is no chain drive to retard the speed when you cut the acceleration, thye retardation is pretty slow( only the tyre resistsnce plays). So dont expect your EBike to behave the way a normay bike would wnen you cut your accelerator to zero. Apply brakes immeadiatly after cutting the accelerator.

And dear friend, this bike does not have an odometer and so checking the distace it can cover on a single charge is not easy.  I would rather leave that to someone else to find out for us!
