Yo-Bike: The problems are un-ending. Review on Yo Bykes

I bought the Yo- bike (Yo Smart) battery powered scooty on 21-01-2007. It was doing fine and proved to be quite a head-turner in my city with other vehicle drivers driving parallely and equiring about its features.

Today while my wifey was driving, it suddenly stopped after giving a few sudden jerks. The power 'ON' indicator turned dead. She had no other option but to pull and push it home. When I returned in the evening from office, I went to the service centre and brought the technician along. He checked the battery and wiring system and the fuses. Everything seemed OK. But as soon as he turned the circuit breaker 'On' there was a flash and it turned 'Off'. He has made a guess that the motor mounted on the rear wheel has got burnt and one will have to take it to the service station. Also, we found that the rear wheel has got jammed and moves only after applying lots of effort. So, dear friends, it has hardly been 10 days since I bought the Yo bike and it is evident that nothing more needs to be said about its quality. I have been taken for a ride by the dealer who had said that it has been very successful in Gujarat and is very good as far as technology and build are concerned.

So tomorrow I will take it somehow to the service centre.

So dear friends, I again went to the service centre in the morning and brought  the technician along. We had no other option but to toe it to the Service Centre. I wrapped an old bedsheet all around the front of the scooty and tied a rope over it, to prevent body scratches due to rubbing of the rope. Next, I took out my dear HONDA UNICORN and toed the dead Yo bike with the technician on its seat, all of 4 kms to the service centre. The rear wheel (which houses the motor) was changed alongwith the Electronic Controller. As they didnt have the spares, these were dismantled from a new Yo bike and put in mine. I got the Yo bike by 3 pm. It is running OK since yesterday. However, today evening the speedometer turned faulty. It is not showing any reading! Looks like my bike is jinxed. Will take it again to the centre tomorrow. But that will be another story. PHEW!!Regret the day I bought this vehicle. And that too for around Rs 30, 000. Getting sleepless nights ever since.

Nov.09, 2007(Diwali Day)

*Today, as I was driving around my city shopping centre, the bike again gave a few jerks and stopped. Fortunately, the service centre was nearby. I pullen and pushed (my 07 year old son givinga helpful hand) the Yo bike to the service centre as the rear wheels had got jammed.

The service technician examined the problem and found that the electronic motor controller had got burnt. He took the faulty spare to the showroom. He came back after an hour and said that I will have to  pay  the paid service charges, as I had not got them done on time. The paid service charge was Rs 150 and I had not got two paid services done. So I had to shell out Rs 300. They then replaced the  Electronic Motor Controller. (They didnt have any spare. and had to take it out from a brand new bike). I was fortunate that my one year warranty was still on (it is valid till Feb 2008).

So now dear friends, I am looking for a prospective buyer who will make me free from all worries on account of it. ANY TAKERS? HA.HA.HA.
