A small hill station near to Salem, located in the Shevroy range of hills in Tamil Nadu is "Yercaud" . It is also called the jewel of south and poor mans Ooty.
I came to know about this place when I was residing in Chennai.
From Chennai it about 7 hours to Salem by train and then 1 -1.5 hrs drive or by bus to Yercaud.
Its a place where you can easily go on a weekend and it will be a nice outing with friends and family.
Its a small hill station and one can cover all the major points in a single day. The main attraction points of the place are:
1> Yercaud Lake
2>Lady's Seat
3>Killiyur Falls: a 90-foot(27 m)-high waterfall.
4>The Servaroyan Temple.
5>Bear’s Cave.
6>Green House
I booked the Tamil Nadu Tourism Hotel which is near the proximity of the Lake and strategically at a very great location.
Its a place where you can just take a happy break from the stress work during the week and enjoy the nature and the climate and come back to work on Monday with full energy.
