Yercaud doesn’t ring a bell so easily. Yes u may have heard the name somewhere, but where on the continent doest it lie?(.for newcomers to this part of the world)

This is the route from Bangalore from where I hail… but there are numerous post from different parts around yercaud for reference

Take the Krishnagiri-Dharmapuri-Omalpur route to Yercaud.  The drive is beautiful from hosur The road are well laid on either side of the roads, the boulders appear as if some one has kept them one on top of other to make a mountain . The total distance from Bangalore to yercaud is approximately 250 km one way………(sarjapur ring road to yercaud) with a few stretches not so good to drive. It’s a one straight road just inquire at omalpur so that u don’t enter the Salem city which is like any city…… crowded!

The journey uphill is about 35 km with 20 hairpin bends. Its an interesting drive and u ll be greeted with the guardian god the Aiyanars, then monkeys, squirrels, etc. .The 17 th hairpin bend offers a great view worth a stop. Just at the 20 th bend is this lovely place where we stayed called THE SKY S ROCA.  Read reviews in mouth shut…..iif u need any more details I can try to help…......It is a small, relatively unknown place and very, very peaceful. we went on  17th feb and returned on 18th feb........Since not many tourists haunt this place, its very serene. The main problem which for us is a big plus point is that there is nothing to ’see’ here. The air is crisp and the silence of the place is very inviting.what u will find in abundance here is natural beauty. Its not for nothing that the locals chose the name yercaud. The land of lakes and forests – that’s literally what Yercaud means (Yeri – lake, kaadu – forest). You can’t help but get the feeling that this place was specially created for mankind to unwind. There are many places that the website suggests and can be obtained from the following websites

https://hoteltheskyroca.com/Accomodation.html

https://grandpalaceyercaud.com/site.htm

What u must do is

Eat the mirchi/onion/banana/cauliflower bhajjias by the lake and yes just don’t look at the oil.

Do not eat bhuttas, they were all dry and tasteless,

Do not take the pedal boat unless u r out there to loose weight its very tiring and u wont be able to enjoy the boat ride. Take the one that a man rows for you.

Buy some oils from bhavani sings perfumery. He ll give u a free tour of his garden and different plants from which they extract the oils. but take at ur own risk as  I was not sure of its purity.

There are other shops who sell the oil u may try.

Eat only at SKY ROCA. No other place serves good food.(any cuisine)

Summer is the time when the flowers are in full bloom and they have a summer festival Every Sunday and Wednesday they have a market where locals and people from the nearby village get there goods to sell near the lake.

U may buy some good plants like begonias. Cycas, dancing doll etc etc…….. all at a throw away price but check if u have place in ur car!!!!!!!!!!

And for places of stay I stayed in THE SKY ROCA. And its worth every penny u spend but visitors may decide.
