Fed up with the usual power cuts in Bangalore, we decided to take a break on the week-end, and hence decided to pack up the bags and go to "Poor Man's Ooty" - Yeracaud.

We booked a room at "Hotel Grand Palace" through web, and started off by 7:30 on a Saturday morning.

Though the weather at Bangalore was no less than that of a Hill-Station, but atleast we can get off the stress from the usual power cuts.

The drive was pretty good through Hosur - Krishnagiri - Dharmapuri - Salem - Yeracaud. The only advantage of driving to Mysore is the "Coffee Day" and good restaurants on the way. I think starting a "Coffee Day" on this route will be a good business idea.

We took a break before Salem at the "A-Plaza" which is a pretty clean place.

The up-hill drive to Yeracuad was good specially because the roads were in good condition. As it was the flowering season for coffee plantations, the complete atmosphere was filled in with the mild fragrance of the coffee flowers.

We reached the Hotel Grand Palace at 12:30, i.e. just 5 hours drive from Bangalore.

As the hotel was situated on the top of the hill, we really didn't went for any sight-seeing. The view from the hotel itself is so breath-taking that you can just sit and gaze for hours.

The lakes and other famous points are always over-crowded, with litters all around. Hence the view from the hotel was an advantage for us since we could see the complete Yeracaud, from the hill-top.

In the evening, the complete hotel was covered under clouds. It was a unique experience of having the mist right inside the hotel room.

We stayed there for only a day and started off to Bangalore at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.

All in all a great week-end getaway!

Yes, but bachelors who would like to party can drop the idea to stay at the Grand Palace, since there is no bar. We heard a group of bachelors complaining about the absence of a bar.

But, as the hotel is still being constructed, the bar will come up within few months.

So guys, if you have a stressed week and would like to de-stress, just pack up your bags and head on to Yeracaud.
