I have booked tickets through Yatra on several occasions and didn't face any issues until what happened recently - last week.
I was booking return tickets for my parents to travel from Kolkata to Mumbai in December and again in January. While booking the outward tickets I received a quote for 2 tickets on the 24th of December for a total of Rs3500 and not believing my luck, that day being a "high rush" day, I scrambled to book the tickets including the return tickets that were quoted at Rs 6000 and some change. I quickly selected these tickets and proceeded to fill in the details that were required by Yatra. Meanwhile the total fare summary was displayed on the right side of the webpage and showed a total sum of Rs10500. One page from entering my credit card details, suddenly to my disbelief and shock the figure changed to Rs16500 approximately. I had booked tickets several times as stated earlier and this was a first. I didn't take any more time than was usual, in fact I hurried as the first fare was too good to miss.
So I called Yatra Customer Care and spoke with a rep, then his supervisor and finally somebody higher. All in varying degrees kept repeating that Yatra was a dynamic website and fares can change in the manner I described and that airlines are to blame for happened.
Maybe this has happened to others out there. Maybe it is correct. But when an individual has selected a certain fare and has not taken any more time that is logically acceptable for such a task on a website that is designed and operated by the stated product in an order that is acceptable to them, then I wonder wouldn't the average joe customer like your truly feel at least a bit undone.
My dialog with the customer service people came to naught and I decided that retirement is suitable for the sake of my heart.
I have decided never to book anything on Yatra again and instead transferred my loyalties to Makemytrip where I proceeded to book thirty grand worth of tickets. Maybe peanuts to Yatra but it adds up doesn't it.
