An Open Letter to Mr. Yash Chopra. Review on Yash Chopra

Dear Mr. Chopra,

Let me begin by thanking you for all the fun, for all the joy and all the entertainment that you have bought to generations of Indian Movie-goers. Your contribution to the Indian cinema is priceless; your style of movie making is out of this world. You are definitely a genius and it shows in your work ? many people make movies, but your passion is unmatched, it goes without saying that in are in a different league all together.

However despite being a life long fan of your movies I am constrained to write this open letter to you. There are certain issues which need to be bought to your as well as the general audiences notice, and this open letter is a small step in that direction.

Through all these years you have always worked with the cream of the film industry. Be it Mr. Bachchan or more recently King Khan, all your projects all your movies seem to be conceived by keeping only these great actors in mind. The same goes for Lata Mangeshkar, who is definitely present in most of your soundtracks as far as I can remember.

It?s quite under stable ? you being a genius your desire to work with the best in the industry, however as per my understanding good directors can make even wooden actors act. Just imagine all the talented actors out there, who will never figure in any of your movies, since you are so passionate, so obsessed about only working with the Superstars of Bollywood. Unfortunately due to your reluctance to work with Normal stars, we (as audiences) might miss out of great creative partnerships between you and actors like Aamir Khan to name one. What?s the harm in trying to work with other available talented actor?

Even though not all movies under ?Yashraj? banner are directed by you, and neither are you creatively involved with all of them, recently a lot of movies under your banner have been released. Almost all these movies are crap, and most of these movies are bad copies of Hollywood flicks. Hum Tum?..When Harry Met Sally, Dhoom?? Biker Boyz & 2 Fast 2 Furious, Mere Yaar Ki Shadi Hai??..My Best Friend?s Wedding. To say the least this is shameful stuff, one doesn?t expect this from a production house like yours. By the way Darr was also a rehashed from a couple of English Movies, whatever happened to locally available scripts? Not Workable huh?

With all due Respect Mr. Chopra you were the pioneer of shooting your films abroad, especially Switzerland. And the present breed of Directors in Bollywood are thankful for the direction you have shown them, the audiences were not complaining either, after all how many Indians would get to see scenic Switzerland in their lifetimes? However don?t you think you have carried your fixation with Phoren locales too far? I mean the audience do know the difference between Shimla and Switzerland, why do you try to pass off Switzerland as Shimla? I think you need to credit our audiences with a little more intelligence, please please please don?t take us as fools.

Like most others, I am waiting for Veer-Zarra to hit the theatres, I can assure you I would be watching your movie on the first weekend of the movie itself. Hope you will considerate and consider at least some (if not all) issues raised in this letter to you.

ps: It would help if you would stop showcasing Uday's talents in most films made under your banner.
