It's been long time I have written any review. I purchased new szr in 2011 in the month of May. Earlier I had pulsar 150 . now a little bit about pulsar. pulsar's handlebar is better than szr. It is 14bhp bike but due to weight it  could not go beyond 96km/h. I have a dream of touching 100km/h on bike because I used to get speeds above 100 on my earlier yamaha rx 100. pulsar sucked big time in this department. I try to modify my pulsar by iridium spark plugs and k & n filter but to no avail. it still could not touch 100. after using the bike for 4 years I decided to sell my pulsar. now the hunt started for a new bike.

I checked out various bikes. szr is 150 cc bike that comes just under 60, 000 rs. price wise it was great . one is getting a 150 cc bike under 60k. now I checked its weight and power. weight is around 132 kgs and power of 12 hp. pulsar weights 147kg and 14 hp. now let me remind you the engine of pulsar is not very smooth. it get really noisy and rough above 7000 rpm. noise makes me sick. the sales executives at yamaha showroom told me that the szr is going to give you mileage of 55+. Which is totally false. I get a mileage of 44 kmpl. If I drive around 40-50 then it might give me 48. I always wanted to check the bikes top speed. So I went to anandpur sahib on bike from chandigarh on my szr. In between the roads are 4 landed and broad. With little traffic in the afternoon. great spot to check the engine of szr. now let me be honest the bike at 5500 rpm touches 70km/h with ease.

It's all butter smooth till 7500 rpm. I really pulled the throttle hard and you wont believe rpm showing 8500 and I touched 101 km/h. but it was a gradual climb to 101 km/h not as quick as I wanted. above 85km/h not that the bike stuggles but it gets

slower to speed up more. at 101/km/h the bike was bit shaky so instead for trying to go more I slowed down. its a good package for city driving. szr handle bar not as good as pulsar. but console is much better though its analogue. braking of szr is also a concern specially on wet roads. take lot of care not to brake where its wet. because your bike will skid. pulsar's mileage is much better than szr. pulsar used to give me around 55 km/l. this szr is giving 10km/l less. what I get in return is smoother engine with good top speed.

pulsar parts as I have come to know by experience are not very good. they are manufactured by local companies in india. and as demand is high for pulsar one could only imagine.
