Hi everyone! I'm from the Philippines.I bought my Yamaha SZR 5 months ago and I ride wherever I go and so far my meter is now reading 8778 kilometers. I have yet to encounter a problem with this bike and I have had her serviced 4 times now. I must thank my mechanic as he has been working with yamaha for 15 years now and is a pro at what he does.
I'll just divide this into two parts my pro's and con's with this bike. I wanna start with the con's first.
-She's not really that fuel efficient especially ones your passed the 80km mark in city driving I get around 38km to the liter and one the highway I get around 45 to the liter, but she not all that bad since most 150cc bikes also level around these numbers when it comes to fuel economy.
-She's kinda stiff when going into tight turns and corners.(Although she's not a performance sports bike I would have love to get my knee down just a personal though)
-The bike does not come with a engine kill switch. I think a engine kill switch is a must have on all bikes today as it is a good safety feature.(i don't mind having no pass light or kills switch for the lights as I can add these if I wanted since I like to mod my own bikes)
-Tires are not very responsive in cold weather and especially on wet surfaces.(but it is part of the marketing deal as this bike is pretty cheap so I was expecting cheap tires. but still I would like to state the tires as con. but I just fixed this con with my bike since I replaced my tires with Michillin performance tires they she handles even better now.)
Those are my con's now for my pro's.
-She's is very nimble in traffic I know she looks big and bulky I thought are first that this would be a heavy bike for me. as im only 5'6 in height but I was surprised when I rode her for the first time. this bike was light.
-She's stable at high speeds, when im on the highway taking a long distance trip. I mark are 80-100kmh though she vibrates a little but its not that kind of heavy annoying vibration you get from small 100cc bikes that pass the 70kmh mark. im very comfortable with high speeds on this bike.
-For the price given she looks very sporty.
-The big gas tank. yup 14 liters of fuel. this is the pro. that gets me to not really think about the millage on the bike.
-pillion seat comfort is great I have had no complaints from my previous passengers even during bumpy rides. they say the seat is nice and think.
-Great pickup speed. at low speeds this bike is beautiful she great for break away from the pack when in traffic and good enough for keeping a decent pace on the highways.
-The fact that the engine on this bike is taken from the FZ16 is amazing I don't worry about spare parts as they are not hard to find for me.(unlike my larger 300cc ninja which I have to wait for the parts to arrive from a oversea's dealer.)
So these are my pro's and con's with this bike.
Overall I think she's a great bike for the price being given and she suit the role of a comfortable commuter that you can take almost anywhere.:D
