I bought my bike on 3rd Sep from Pearl Yamaha, Hyd.

Before I describe my bike performance I would just like to mention a few points why I chose this bike.

This is my first bike but had the joy of riding many of my friends bikes ranging from samurai to FZ. When I decided to buy a bike my requirements were:

1) Engine power not less than 125 cc

2) Mileage around 60 kmpl

3) Riding comfort ( as I have to drive for around 60 kms a day )

And then on I started researching over net, taking opinions of users, having test-rides of diff bikes. Finally I had the folowing choices

1) Honda shine

2) Honda Stunner

3) Yamaha SS 125

4) Bajaj Xcd

5) Bajaj Pulsar 135/ 150 cc

( Considered Unicorn and CBZ as well. I striked off the former because of the delay in acquiring one and the mileage figures of both the bikes is not in my range )

Stunner was a flop as per the design ( Very particular about riding experience and not looks ) and both the mentioned honda bikes are said to give vibrations once you cross a maximum of 60 kmph.

Yamaha is a very refined engine as Honda is but there is very bad notion that they don't give proper mileage.

Bajaj bikes are like jack of all trades and master of none. Personally I don't prefer Bajaj and TVS.

So finally I decided go for Yamaha SS 125.

I have done 350 kms so far on my bike and here is the review of the same :

PROS:

1) Bike's acceleraion is upto the expectation and u would love the sound ur bike makes while u rev it.

2) Tires seem to be small when u think of buying this bike, But let me tell you they do an excellent job even on rainy days. ( Of course you need to be careful whikle riding on wet roads )

3) I can firmly say that disc brakes in the front can just set this bike way ahead of any other bike in 125 cc range ( including P135)

4) Very good seating posture and assures a comfortable ride. But if you are short guy ie.., below 5'5'' then sry this bike is not for you. I being a averagely built 5'10'' guy feel very happy even if I have to drive for 3 hrs continuously. ( I swear )

5) It has both the elements of being sporty and even being a family bike.

6) As far as mileage is concerned I am sure I am getting 45+ as I filled my tank with 8.5 ltrs of petrol and I still have one red stick of petrol left after doing 350 kms. Not at all a bad mileage for brad new bike. Mind you I never ever crossed 50 kmph on my speedo till date.

7) Even the seat is larger than many other bikes across all segments which easi;y accommodates 3 people.

CONS:

1) Mud guards provided doesn't help in saving you from the spilling mud for the rider nor the pillion either.

It would be a big problem to maintain the bike cleanly in rainy season as there proper guards provided like in pulsar.

2) In the first gear with pillion rider you might just feel the pick up is low . But once you reach 3rd gear you will start feeling like GOD. No rules ;)

That's what I have for you in this review and would keep on updating you about the performance after every service and will surely upload my bike photos very shortly !!!
