I have bought SS125(Red and Black / DRM) in 2010. It was a premium top end 125cc bike back then. It is highly reliable bike backed with regular servicing. It offers good ride quality in city traffic with good flickability. Long distance tours of upto 100kms one way are the maximum limit. Over past 6 years, I have changed stock front suspension, chain and sprocket set, stock tyres. That speaks volumes about reliability of the machine. I have driven this for over 50k kilometres till date. Good things about this bike is handling in city traffic, availability of torque even after you have hit 75 - 80 kmph, good looks, good quality switch gear. Areas of improvement of this bike are stability at higher speeds on open stretches, lack of some minor spare parts, fuel gauge / indicator is not sensitive or does not depict actual fuel level and lack of focus from Yamaha. It feels good to drive this bike around with pillion. It never lets you down irrespective of kind of road. Lack of emphasis from Yamaha makes it a second grade bike from perspective of after sales market, accessories, spares etc. Lack of emphasis is to the extent that people in almost 6 Yamaha workshops across 3 cities(Kolkata, Hyderabad and Mumbai) knew / addressed the bike as Gladiator than SS125. However machine is amazingly reliable, powerful with good ride quality. Quality of paint and stickers is too good for a bike of it's category and price range. With daily washing or cleaning, I could retain shine / look with some 10% to 20% reduction. It returns an average of 45 km per litre in busy hours of city traffic.
