Hello guys, I am not gonna talk about specs of the bike. My first bike was Bajaj ct100 and she was with me for 4 years. Had to sell as it started to give me severe back pain. After a long research I decided to go for Honda Unicorn. After 6 months wait period I got her on August 2010. Absolute pleasure driving it. Slowly the bike started giving problems and after 2 years it was turning off very often even when I drove it slow. After so much trial and error the problem was still there. Finally I decided to sell it but met with a major accident. Nothing happened to me but the bike's front portion was majorly damaged.

I decided to fix it later and started searching for a bike with less power and good efficiency. I went to check Mahindra Centuro as there is so much hype that its fully loaded etc etc.so I took a test drive. After riding a unicorn, no other bike will please you with power and smoothness. I rejected it. Searched Internet for over 2 weeks. My options for 125cc was limited. Honda shine, honda stunner, discover 125 and 125 st, yamaha ss 125. Lots of people suggested to go for Yamaha ss125, the most underrated bike, decided to do a test drive.

After using honda, just scared to go back to it due to the cost of the spares. Carburettor of unicorn costs rupees 5200.

My dad was pestering me to go for Bajaj 125st but I was not impressed. My mind was set to yamaha ss125.

I searched for used SS125 bikes. There were very few sold in the used market. I called one seller and took a test drive of a 2011 model ss125. Pickup was good, handling was amazing but the bike was turning off if I raise the engine more than 5000 RPM. I got an idea on how the bike would be while driving on road.

I went to Yamaha showroom and tested the bike. Though it was short one, I kind of felt I was riding a 150 cc bike. Finally booked the bike and got delivered by 2nd of this month. It costed me Rs.65, 000 on road, Chennai. I got with Ceat tyres intead of MRF. So far, it's smooth, comfy. Haven't taken the bike for long rides yet. Still in run-in period. But I am impressed with the bike. Haven't calculated the mileage also. I will keep you guys posted more. .

Update: So far 250 KMS completed.

Comfort: Amazing and good seating position, no back pain. Taking the bike for commuting to my office which is of 35 KMS, one way; Speed limit 50 Kms; No unwanted noises from the engine. Perfect braking. Awesome cornering abilities.

Checked the mileage. Its returned 62.8 KMPL which is pretty decent for the power and smoothness it offers.

Overall, I am impressed. I will keep you guys posted about my experience after first service.

Update:

First service has been completed guys. I am still happy with the performance of the bike. Service costs were 350 bucks. Mileage still remaining at 63 KMPL.:-D. 800 Kms done so far.

If you are looking for a bike in 125 cc category, don't think, buy YAMAHA SS125 without any doubt
