For a man who owns a bike, the bikes means a lot to him. It is more than just a machine for him to commute from one place to another. It is more of a freind to him . Heck ,he takes more care of it than he would of his girl-freind ( ''woman liberation'' females pls dont take it personally. Ask the guys if ur not their gf) . It is the most important thing to him and he is most passionate about it.
Well then my girlfriend's souten is the indomitable RX 100 . The king of 2-strokes even after 15 years of reign. It has been handed down to me by my uncle who used to use it in his college days. It still rules and blasts the competition into oblivion. Mine is a 1987 japan make RX 100 which is not 100 cc but actually 125 cc delivering 12 horses. All the models I guess before 1990 are japan make and the ones after that are indian which are 100cc. Well now lets go through THE BIKE!!!
Design and engineering - There is no doubt that this is the bike u would swing ur legs over. The looks have become classic. The instrumentation is basic but thats not the forte of the RX 100, is it?
Perfomance and Engine - Now we are talikng! The RX 100 engine is a legend. My bike goes from 0-60 in a notch above 5 secs! While I zip away from the traffic , the other bikes eat my 2-stroke smoke. the brakes are fantasitc and up to the task. I have attained a top speed of 106 kmph and not once felt out of control . The engine has done around 40000 kms and yet no problem and it is as good as new.
Others - the spare parts are as cheap as they come. No problem at all , Maintanence is very cheap. The exhaust note of the bike is recognized anywere. U zip in a RX and ppl look at u , as the exhaust note is so gr8. The handling is sexy if I might say so . The bike responds to u perfectly. And for other mundane things like mileage , it never sold for it mileage.
Suggestions - Well if ur a very proud owner of a RX, I would recommend that u change the rear tyre to the Rd tyre, there is drop of 1 or 2 km in the mileage but its worth it. It make the bike look good and feel good. Also get rid of the original handle and try a shorter handle like the fury handle. It rocks and u'll love it! VERDICT - Plain and Simple. RX 100 RULES . Pity the company who discontinued this gr8 bike.
