I know all MS people read my reviews with lot of interest, appreciate that and give their valuable comments….Thanks for the heartfelt support from you.

Most of the techies will ask for technical specs of this wonderful bike, so here you go at the first shot. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_RX_100

Now I will get free hand to write all what I want…my true experience with this bike which has come naturally ….just penning it down for you!

Why Yamaha?I was OK with any two wheeler!

I remember 1990 was the year when I was in 12th standard and had dreams of owning my own vehicle. But I was not wise(or keen?) enough to limit the options to bikes.

Really, I was ready to do away with Luna super, Luna TFR, TVS 50 or may be any scooter(Scooters had great options that time: Bajaj Super/Chetak, Priya, Girnar, LML etc.).I was just desperate to have any two wheeler which can take me from point A to point B. That is it! I consider myself real idiot when I think I was kind of ‘Not so aware’ of the trends at that time. Now, this idiotic level has gone down and I consider myself as little expert(? J) in automobiles…

Most of the today’s generation is not even aware of most of these brands, no offence meant, but I am talking about 20 years back when today’s college going culture was not there in this beautiful world!Scooters were in range of 8-9k and Bikes were 14-15 k if I remember correctly.

Coming back to dreams or requirement, I wanted a decent vehicle to roam around with my girlfriend(s?) in my college time, can take me to Khadakwasala dam/sinhgad near Pune to do some chiki wiki(WIKI=Encyclopedia! Which I used to learn 101 tricks to woo any girl!)PUN intended.

My father used to give me his Priya scooter however not so frequently for my riding. But my pocket money was good enough to roam around at places around pune and do some trekking once in a month with all my biker friends.

Buying Yamaha

Decided to go for another scooter but then changed my mind at the last moment. I finalized my options on Bajaj RTZ which was approx.14k that time. Very good Suzuki was in my non favorite category due its ‘Angry honeybee’ firing! So, Went to Sai service to buy KB RTZ, but while entering the gate, I heard one dialoge which changed my mind ‘Yaar iski seat bahut patali hai, peeth ki vaat lag jati hai’(Seat is too thin, prone to backache)…I was not sure whether it was correct but I was not ready to take chance with my money…There were only two options, Suzuki AX100 R and Yamaha as I was not really fascinated by Hero Honda CD 100 deluxe and Suzuki that time. Then, went to Yamaha showroom at Satara road(Ajinkya Motors) to have a look at Yamaha RX 100.It was good but not impressive at the first sight as I found it very plain and boring that time. But yes, the seat position and comfort was unparalleled compared to RTZ.

That time, customer was not even offered test rides outside showroom premises! Shocking but true J, they used to ask me ‘Kab lena hai?’ in very rude voice.I remember the Sales representative kickstarted the bike on his own, I heard the voice(I hate the word Wild roar, Grunt etc.) because I was not having any pre notions about RX philosophy, BHP, firing etc.which Junta of my time used to have.

Why Yamaha

He said “You will get decent mileage of 40km/ltr, Silk smooth suspension(same was mentioned in the brochure which he gave me!) and no maintenance!”I came home after that and forgot the episode as I had to spent my money for some other requirements at home. After 2 months, I got admission for my engineering diploma and the need felt so badly so went again and booked my bike at Ajinkya motors. So, you will think why the hell am I wasting all the precious words in these paragraphs? Reason is to tell you that I was not obsessed with Yamaha initially but started love affair(again I hate this word for non living things!) with Yamaha 20 years back.I bought RX100 on 4th April 1990.

Using Yamaha

As I am not very much fond of modifying the originals, I kept Yamaha in stock condition as I got on the day 1, not even removed the mirrors which people do normally. My Yamaha has seen me getting transformed from younger college going kid to person now in late 30s, but nothing has changed in Yamaha except some clutch, accelerator cable, tyres, Oil, Speedometer, very minor things. It was Black colored vehicle+Golden stripes on it since I bought and has not changed the color though repainted my bike thrice in 20 years to keep it in shape and rust free.

Yamaha Quality

I never thought that would use for next 20 years, but to my surprise, I have never thought of selling it till date. That speaks about its quality components. As I said earlier, I was never in love with non living things before but my perception changed over period of time.It brings tears of joy when I see my Rx100 in my parking which has witnessed almost 50% of my life.(only my parents can claim 100%, so you will get an idea about the statistics), taken me from my home to college, various places in Konkan, Mumbai and yes with multiple friends(No guessing is required!),

She is truly my ‘Dhanno’ for all my Veerugiri in those’ Sholay’ kind of situations. All Hemamalinis of my time were impressed by its Gabbar like sound …I have won many ‘Pachas Hajar’ inaam on it…? Apart from it very much close to my heart and have high sentimental value! In all those 20 years, I have changed 3-4 tyres, changed Rear rim once and cables after every 10k to have smooth operations, I have changed rear shock absorbers when My mechanic says ‘sir change the ‘shockbasar’??, I think 4 times if I remember correctly! Seat was changed to original Yamaha mould, no fancy changes to it.Rest all is original and running extremely wonderful.

Yamaha Re-invented!
