For those who do not know I am providing few details of the RX series vehicles 6 models in total. I have noted them from various portals. I might be right or wrong, but I suggest please add your knowledge so that let the next generation know about RX history which today is known to few people like us.

Vehicle:

RX100: 98 CC, Max Power: 11BHP(at 7500 rpm), 10.39 NM Torque(at 6500 rpm)

RXG: 132 CC, Max Power: 11.8BHP(at 6500 rpm), 12.25 NM Torque(at 6500 rpm)

RX135 and RXZ 4 SPEED: 132 CC, Max Power: 12.2 BHP(at 6500 rpm), 12.3 NM Torque(at 6500 rpm)

RX135 and RXZ 5 SPEED Bore(CC): 132 CC, Max Power: 14.2 BHP(at 7500 rpm), 12.3 NM Torque(at 7000 rpm)

RX Manufactured in different timelines in INDIA.

PHASE 1: Launched in 1986, the Japan RX had original CKD kits. Some vehicles had Made in Japan embossed on certain parts. They had pipe Silencers with least amount of glass wool giving them the Signature RX BEAT. Release year 1986 till 1989. Note that the spare parts were manufactured in JAPAN and assembled in INDIA. Mileage around 30-35kmpl.

Phase 2: Between 90 and 91 came the first brand of Indian manufactured RX 100 Models. They had Mikuni VM20 as carburettor. No significant changes, but products manufactured and assembled in India. Mileage around 30-35kmpl.

Phase 3: With the Bharath/EURO 1 getting implemented in 1990/1991, the next new batch of  RX for few months in 1992 year had .ESCoORTS embossed on the Tanks. Due to this the sales plummeted.(I had my RX 100, 1992 vehicle with .ESC0ORTS on the tank). So Yamaha retained the original emboss and these EURO 1 compliant RX vehicles were under manufacture till 1995/96. Mileage around 30-35 kmpl.

Phase 4: With EURO 2 coming into rule YAMAHA released a much more powerful RXG(Note G is for GREEN). This vehicle also came with VM20 Mikuni carburetor. Had bigger bore size(132 CC against 98CC of RX 100). The problem with the vehicle was starting trouble, Choking under acceleration but when accelerator is left free, poor mileage around 18-25KMpl) etc. Bike owners were asked to bring their bikes to YAMAHA showrooms for rectification purpose.

Phase 5: Release of RX 135 Model with rectification done on the problems faced by RXG. YEIS technology implemented. But Yamaha lovers were not happy and sales were not as expected. This model was 4 speed and came under RXZ version also. Both these models were manufactured till 2000. Mileage was at par with Suzuki 2 stroke models like Samurai, Max 100 or Shaolin, i.e around 40-45 kmpl. Rashly driven vehicles pull the mileage, down by another 5KMPL.

Phase 6: 5 speed RX 135 and RXZ released. BHP Up by 2 BHP from 12 to 14, but mileage plummetted to 30 -35 KMPL. This model manufactured between 2000 and 2003 all coming under EURO 3 with CAT-CON silencers and TIGER Model. RX 135 in few races in Chennai seems to have beaten RD350. That was the capacity of this pocket monster.

Phase 7: Last Phase again tweaked the vehicle back to Phase 5 version, except that they kept the TIGER MODEL features and lowered the BHP to 12 and speed to 4 speed. Mileage 40-45 kmpl. But there were complaints about problems with the back tyre like skid, vobbling etc.

By 2005, literally all the 2 stroke vehicles died their deaths(except TVS XL and new launched Vespa 2 stroke scooters, which still are in production) and the manufactured spill over RX Bikes were sold off till 2006 in INDIA.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH RX BIKES(Standard first bore performance and no modification):

RX 100(4 SPEED): I have 1 year experience with RX100. the only likable thing is that, the bike is excellent in initial acceleration due to high revving low torque engine. Mileage 35KMPL under extra careful riding condition. Sound is sweet when ripped, though I do not rip personally nor do I advice such things.

RX135(4 SPEED): I have 2.5 year experience with RX135. In RX 135 I like for the mid band performance. Mileage between 38-48 kmpl got from 2 different bikes. Current bike giving between 38-42 kmpl. Carefully driven.
