Hell, the only one of its kind, the Yamaha RX-100 is a fantastic bike!!
For all those who have never tried revving up a RX, well, you try accelerating the bike and the awesome power its 11.5 horses deliver for a small 100 cc engine is incredible.
Maintenance is minimal, and the average is, well, average, It could give you anything from between 30-40, but very few RX-100s would give you anything better than that.
THe only redeeming thing about the RX-100 is the transmission. Gears are not smooth, though you get used to the hard feel as you engage the lever. And if you are used to riding smoother engines (The Suzuki 2-strokes had a much smoother acceleration, though they lacked the roar and power thrust of the RX), you may find the Yamaha a bit rough to handle.
But then, thats what its meant for. Fo the tough guy who wants some rough action.
I've done wheelies and many more stunts and back in the 80s, it was the only one of the 100 cc bikes to clock anything above the 100kph mark.
If you want a bike with the roar and have about 15 K to spare, go for a second-hand RX-100, its good value for money and wd give you immense pleasure.
If you wanna try pitting it against any of the new 4-strokes, even if your RX gets beaten, the roar of the engine wd definitely give the others something to think about... and respect.
