I am riding p220 since it was launched. It is no doubt ultimate bike. Just like all you guys, i am also curious in premium segment ( sorry, my premium segment is upto 1.5lac). I regulary search new about new indian launches. This year, at auto expo , i was very much impressed by yamaha r15. It is sexiest bike i have ever seen in my segment.. I was bowled over by the looks but its engine specifications was below by expectation. I wanted at least 250 so i side glanced it till......................................................

Till , last month when i read the comparison of p220, karizma, apache and r15 in a megazine. You can say that it pushed me to give a thought to buy it. Then i read the reviews at mouth shut. So you all guys had given full marks to it. Then i went yamaha showroom for test ride but they declined ( at least this is not expected from yamaha). My curiosty incresed. Now i was to decide to sell p220 or not then due to megazine revoews, mouth shut reviews, i sold my precious p220. Very next day i was at yamaha show room. Without hesitating, i bought famous color (guess).

Show room is nearly 15kms from our home and its a straight road. When i sat, i felt uncomfortable due to low handle bars. It felt a lot lighter than p220. I was bit amused. Any way i drove it and felt that its not accelrating as that of p220 i was depressed and when i reached home, my wrists were in pain. I felt that i have done a blunder mistake by buying it.

But story abhi baaki hai....

Everybody in locality was stunned by the looks.. (only looks!!!)

In evening i went for ride.....and everything changed. I dont know how.. I mean

After 50 kms, i became used to driving position ( in begining i was sitting by putting my legs away from tank, but now i sit by aligning my legs with tank) so its quite comfortable now, accelration is descent ( i miss growling sound of p220) but its not bad at all. Gear shift is superb as compare to p220. The only drawback which doesnt make bike symetrical is rear tyre. So i went for bigger rear tyre (120) and p220 horns. Now its complete package and totally value for money.

To all p220 owners, i must say that its build quality is fantastic and toally reflects true yamaha japneese ( not indian). If u can compromise a bit drop in power ( doens't matter too much unless u wanna race) and can afford some 2-3k ruppes more, go for it.

I haven't seen so many faces turned towards my bike when i purchased p220 but now, every passer buy turn its head. No doubt it seems a big bike.

so dont wait, go and grab it.

what you have to add : a big rear tyre, set of horns, a central stand ( its not provided),

what u have to remove : back view mirors ( its my opinion coz they seems to thin)

Ps : before this i had bullet 500, rd350, p180, p220.............all are from different categories but r15 is totally a different experiance .

*now after a week's ride

*i was told by many that don't change rear tyre. But after 2 day ride, i have changed to 120 coz i was not satesfied by the weak rear end and beleive me i haven't noticed any type of differance but bike feels more stable now. One more thing. Front tyre has been changed with rear one. So now front tyre is 100 and rear is 120. And bike looks, feel more fuller and stronger.

Engine and gear shift is very smooth. But there is a constant light whistle type sound coming from under the tank.

One problem i have felt is that throttle and clutch grips 's length. My palms just cover it , leaing no space side ways. These should have been bit longated. I have felt need of central stand coz in some situations u have to put the bike straight. I felt this while cleaning the rims/tyres and some times it was difficult to park the bike in less parking space. I have also cut short the rear mudguard.

Yamaha dealer has show me accessories catalog and i have placed some like tank protector,

Rim tape, some bolts ets. These are genuine yamaha accessories launched for limited period and are stunning. You must check these at local yamaha dealer.

I will keep updating it.
