PERFORAMNCE DEFINED


Yamaha has re written the rules of a performance bike with their supersport YZF R15. Yamaha launched its initial foray in India with its performing legend Yamaha rd 350, later Yamaha Rx 100, which established Yamaha as a performance manufacturing motorcycle in India.


For the first time a motorcycle was launched on a racetrack in India. The sole reason for this is the super sport nature of R15. The r15 shares its track oriented DNA with racing models like YZF R1 and YZF M1. The technologies used in R15 like liquid cooling, Deltabox frame, fuel injection, Diasil cylinder, forged piston have been borrowed from high performance bikes used for racing abroad. The Yamaha r15 is powered with 150 cc displacement that can leave most of the higher displacement bikes in awe. The reason for this is the bikes better performance in acceleration, cornering ability and superb braking not seen on so called definitely male bikes. Undoubtfully the R15 exceeded expectations when it was launched.


The r15 has disproved the myth which says that you need a higher cc engine to extract more performance from a bike. Yamaha succeeded in making the YZF R15 an iconic bike among the youth. Technologies that redefine the superiority of Yamaha r15




  1. *LIQUID COOLED ENGINE




*An engine gets very hot during running. But if it gets too hot it loses power. Therefore Yamaha came with a tech that ensures a stable power output under a variety of different use conditions. The primary benefits of liquid cooled engine are more stable performance at high speed, going uphill etc. the coolant absorbs the mechanical noises generated by the piston and valves and also contribute to the reduction of mechanical vibration.


2. FORGED PISTON


The forged piston has a feature that reduces the reciprocating mass of the piston by approx 25 percent. The Al forged piston is made by heating the al alloy to a temp lower that the melting point and pressing it into a mold. Due to its increased strength the forged piston can be made thinner and lighter. A forged piston has a lower reciprocating mass when the engine is running.


3. FUEL INJECTION AND FOUR VALVE ENGINE


All these r in a hemispherical combustion chamber. Fuel injection is a feature which improves fuel economy and environmental performance at the same time. YZF r15 is the first motorcycle ever manufactured in India with fuel injection and 4 valve combustion chamber.


Another important feature is the roller rocker arm of the valve lift system. Roller rocker arm is used to reduce friction at high loads. This provides smoother valve operation that in turn improves fuel economy and a more responsive engine feeling.


U all know the recent moto manuf replaced such an advanced tech –FI with an outdated tech-------carburetor---the so called bajaj pulsar. I feel pity for bajaj in reducing their stds to foot level. I think the japs refused to give FI technology from Kawasaki.


4. DELTA BOX FRAME


Refers to the triangle created by three points of the upper and lower ends of the head pipe and the pivot assembly. This kind of frame makes it easy to create an ideal strength rigidity balance. The deltabox frame format has become a standard on race machines and supersport models.


5. DIASIL CYLINDER


A liquid cooled system adds more parts to the power unit than an air cooled system and brings with it increased weight. But Yamaha has an answer to this problem. Thereby the company adopted aluminum diasil cylinder for the cylinder to be cooled. Diasil cylinder improves cooling performance by almost 60 percent while reducing cylinder weight by 30 percent.


6. SPECIALLY DESINGED REAR TYRE


At first when I see this bike I would say what a damn small tyre. But when I test drove it I felt superb. The superb rear MRF Zapper tyres gave the bike an excellent grip, super cornering ability; I just turned a corner 80 km/hr that shows the bike stability at corners. When I did the same in p220 aim not feeling confident to turn corner at that speed so I slowed down and turned at very low speed, we can say 45 km/hr. then what is the use in big tyres at the back which didn’t add stability. I think pulsar have to redesign the bike existing stupid design.


Yamaha is the only one which showcased such a very advanced tech in the Indian market for Indian bikes, not only R15, FZ 16 designed based on mass centralization,


Adding enormous stability to the bike…..not comparable to pulsars, apaches, HHS.


To all guys don’t go for bikes just for show , go for technological bikes meant only for performance. If ur not able to buy R15 go for Yamaha FZ16, the centre of gravity and its reliability is superb. My frd have clocked more than 30000 kms and it didn’t show any sign of damage in any of its spares that’s shows the reliability of Yamaha unlike bajaj. Being a mechanical engineer I insist u all youths go for Yamaha its rocks.


The sad part of mine is I didn’t own a latest Yamaha bike but iam more satisfied with the legendery bike------
