I have been at the opening ceremony of Yamaha R-15 in Chennai. It was a extravagant opening ceremony and we loved it which was quite far from the city and we had a hard time getting there. There were test drives, stunts, displays, breifing, music and dance shows and there was actor madavan himself who gave away the all new r 15 to a lucky guy who was choosen by a lucky draw.

All in all my wait for 7- 9 months has ended to buy a bike after this show.I would say it was bit hard to make up my decision but I am sure I have made the right on.As far as the looks goo from a distance it can can be rated number 1 on the indian road till now except for the thin back tyre which clearly a back drop for the bike itself.I accept that yamaha people have taken care in getting the performance out of the bike by a specially designed tyre but for the looks it under did all its appeal.

If the tryre would have been of the size of pulsar 200/220 then it might have carried the impression that you get intially as awesome but u stop a awe itself............ secondly the comfort level you get the complete racing experience out of it if you are a person less then 5' 9''  and weigh less than 65 kgs, this is because  of the size of the bike as far as the front part goes it is perfectly done but for the driver seet and the pilon seet donot give you that extra bit of comfort. and if you are above the height and weight specifications as mentioned above the you will overdo the byke in terms of size and this would look you are driving a smaller bike like a splendor/passion with a heavy personality which will furthe r down grade the appeal of the bike.I have seen over 100 oversized people who rode the bike and it looked as if they were are holding the bike between there legs and directing it holding the handle but this is not the case with other hihger grade bikes like Karizma or the pulsar you would feel that the bike is carrying you /holding you together. So I have decide that this bike appart from its other good qualities these few small issues would defenetly be an issue for some of the people who are palnning to buy a bike and r-15  is one of the options.

I do accept that you cannt expect a complete sports bike for 1.1L but still 1.1L itself is a big amount in the indain market and if these few more samll issues ar taken care of then there should be no problem for this bike to beet the market share of the karizma and Pulsar.

Finally you must have understood that I have opted out of  r -15 and would be settleing down on Karizma and a small chance of pulsar( because I am already driving  a pulsar 180)   and my wait  for this byke has been waste ...............
