The Yamaha R15 is the best entry level sport bike in its segment and is the descendant of the mighty Yamaha R1. Yamaha has now upgraded the R15 which was launched in India on September 2008. The upgraded version sports a similar fairing to the previous version but a bit more sharper. The riding position of the bike has changed and is a lot more aggressive than its previous version The bike now has split seats which gives more space to the rider to move along while riding and is a bit more comfortable. However, this has become uncomfortable for the pillion as the bike does not have a grab rail and the pillion has to lean on the rider for support. The riding position has been inclined to the front and provides an aggressive riding position. The R15 V2.0 has the same old single cylinder 4 stroke150cc liquid cooled bike with fuel injection system which produces 17ps of power. As per the technical details provided by Yamaha India, the new version has undergone changes in the Engine Control Unit or the ECU . Coming down to other changes the new version has an extended aluminium swing arm, wider front and rear tires(tubeless) for better grip in the city as well as track.

Ride Quality:-The R15 rides like a charm and is definitely a head turner. The engine is very refined and has no vibrations even on high speeds. This is a complete track bike. The throttle response is sharp and gear shifts are really smooth. Even after constant up and downshifts the gear shift is accurate with no false neutrals. The riding position and wider tires help you to chase corners with ease and confidence. The MRF Revz gives you a perfect grip while cornering. Yamaha hasn’t increased the power of the bike but some minor changes have affected the ride quality of the bike to give you a completely different feel. The taller gear ratio has quite increased the mileage of the bike and helps you a lot while cruising on highways. This bike is for enthusiastic riders and gives you the proper feel of a track bike.

Looks:-The bike looks refreshing and mean. Gives you the feel of a litre class bike. Yamaha has introduced the V2.0 with 50th Year Anniversary Edition colour. However the instrument cluster of the bike remains the same. Digital speedometer and analogue tachometer along with twin trip meters, fuel level indicator. The switch gear is similar to the previous version and is made of good material.

Verdict:-All in all the Yamaha YZF R15 2.0 is quite a stunning bike and is up to the Japanese mark in terms of performance The only drawback is the uncomfortable pillion seating and slight pains and aches in the first few days of riding it.
