Mileage:

Comfort:

Reliability:

Road Grip:

Appeal:

I'll make it very simple

The good things:

-

  1. Mileage in Highway around 47kmpl and in city 42 kmpl.

  2. Awesome topspeed: Achieved 136 kmph on straight road.

  3. Revvy engine.Enjoyable in low speeds but not a match to cbr 150 overall.

  4. The sound you get from the even lower rev range is excellent.

  5. Very comfortable for rider and best handling in category.

  6. Best breaking capability in segment.

  7. Very smooth engine on lower revs to near 7000 rpm.

  8. Availability of spares

  9. Very trustworthy engine and reliability.

  10. Good low range and mid end torque.

  11. Excellent handling, probabily best in segment.

  12. R6 inspired looks.

  13. Good for short tours.

  14. Better aerodynamics than most bikes in market.

  15. Awesome looks.

  16. Chicks dig this bike, even though you can't take her for  a long ride.

  17. High quality switches with all the necessary applications.

  18. Easily flickable in traffic and easy availability of torque for overtaking.

  19. Piking up ladies easy if you are having this bike.Just give them a pillion ride and after some time they will ask for a hump or spine masage.rest of the proces is upto you.( Only Applicable if she doesn' fall from it).  .:;

  20. Some excellent colour schemes are available. I likethe one with balck, indigo combination.

  21. Less costly than cbr 150

  22. Better ECU mapping done in v2 than in v1.so more torque available at lower rpm.

  23. Reasonable resale value.

  24. Pure sports bike feeling.

  25. Availability of plenty of used R15s are available at OLX.

The bad things

=

  1. Remove the pillion seat and replace it with a rock.it would be more comfortable.

  2. No grab rails for pillion safety.

  3. The tyre hugger can be  an eye sore for some people.but I thinks it loooks just perfect there.

  4. Getting very common sight.no exclusivity at all.even for limited editions.

  5. No storage space.

  6. Expensive maintenance and costly parts.

  7. Less top speed than cbr 150

  8. Not very much impressed with the head lamps.but this may be a lone case.

10.  I felt like cbr 150 has better weight distribution and balance than R15.

  1. Frequent chain and sprocket change than cbr 150.

  2. Chance of bend disks if you are running on a pothole filled road

  3. Some users report that they are experiencing muscle pain in hands and back pain due to its sporty seating position.personally I think its because they are not adjusted to sporty riding position. Also I observed that r15 is suitable for people upto a height of 5'9 max.

14.  Some reports of very low mileage and leaking from engine.

  1. Even though it is an extreamly steady bike under breaking, seems like it didn't get the memo for wet roads.yup.you can slide the rear tyre easily.

  2. Powerful front break can be dangerous for people who are inexperienced.

  3. uses soft compound tyres for better breaking and the cost is replacement of tyres under 15000 kms usually.

  4. Any modification can ruin the bike's looks as its already at its prime.

  5. Not as reliable engine as honda's.

  6. Pillion might use your body as support while riding resulting in body pain for you.

  7. Not really made for pothole filled roads.

Advice to buyers.

-

If you are looking for a new bike with sporty look and style go for R15 v2.But if you need a  comfortable superbike that can be ridden with a pillion in highway and in a more fuel efficient way go blindly for cbr 150.On delivery please do not forget to check for scratches or the odometer reading in bike, if found any of the above you can deny the receipt of the bike.

For buying a used R15 V2 check following.

-

  1. Check the fuel line for leaks or scracthes or folds or any damp situation, also ask for tyre hugger if removed.it is mandatory for riding a pillion.

  2. Check for any engine vibrartion or hesitation to pull.

  3. Check for rust inside the petrol tank and on the silencer from begining to end.

  4. Do a decarbonising if done more than 30, 000 kms.this will keep the bike healty.

  5. use shell engine oil for better performance.

  6. Check all electricals.essential!

  7. Check break pads and suspension by testing on roads with humps and potholes.

  8. Check for disc bends while running by adjusting the breaks, if you feel any wagging there might be bend with discs.cost of repairing around 2500/-

  9. Never ever let the bike run in reserve always keep atleast the petrol level of a quarter of tank.

  10. This being a powerful bike, check the chain and sprocket.

  11. You can use a STP fuel line cleaner to increase mileage and smoothemness of vehicle.

  12. Check the switches on the digital meter console.

  13. Shift in to all 6 gears and check if any tightness is felt.

  14. Slight loosening of fiber body parts are normal.
