I have a 6 month old Gladiator Grafitti(Black, Electric/Kick start), 123.7cc, 5-Speed gearbox, 11PS/10.8Bhp(1BHP = 1.0143PS), 10.40Nm Torque, Front 240mm Disc brake, Diamond Tubular Type Frame. The bike is impeccable, reliable, excellent pick-up and gear ratios are fantastc, have a top speed of around 105Km/Hr, Mileage-45Kmpl(combined). It has done 5000Kms.
I bought it for Rs.49070(Ex-Showroom Kolkata)-42870+5800(Reg., Ins., Tax)+400(Smart Card).I had problems with the dealer(Leaders-Kolkata). The behaviour is very unprofessional with the customers and after sales service is even poor. I had some minor problems with the bike and was not getting service properly. I am having some problem with the clutch housing and mechanic says it is normal as all 4 stroke bikes have it(started after doing 3000Kms.).
If there is any suggestions, please let me know. Spare parts are not available at service station like Denso halogen(35/35Watt, Denso is OEM for Yamaha) and others parts are also not available. This is the problem with Yamaha Motors as they are concerned about selling the bikes and have little or no effort, control over both, service and dealership network.
In case of any problem, both Yamaha Motors and dealers avoid to address it properly. I have to email the Area Office for a simple problem.Yamaha's market share have increased due to R-15 and FZ-16, but I think after an year or two, it will again fade away although the bikes are terrific and built quality is superb compared to other manufacturers in India.
I am an admirer of Yamaha as a brand as it is performing excellent globally except in few countries like India. These performance bikes need proper service which the existing dealers may not deliver due to poor management.
Suzuki India and Honda India is about to launch their performance bikes soon and they are good at service. Yamaha should concentrate on the service part as much as sales. As a customer I think that purchasing a good bike is of no relevence if service is not delivered properly.
