Hello all.

My dlx glady is a month old and completed one service. When I bought her she was silky smooth. After my first service, I could notice that the same smoothness was not there. The engine sounded a tad strained. After riding a 100 kms like this, I then reduced the idle speed a little. That made a world of difference to the performance. The engine is now silky smooth and fantastic to ride, more than ever before. Could someone knowledgeable about bikes tell me, how the heck the idling speed of the engine, affected its ride feel in such a big way?!

The bike is overall very good and offering a good package for a fantastic price. The disc brakes and self starter are superb. The gear box is precise without being heavy to shift. The handling is good and light to steer. The only crib I can think of, is that the seat is too soft which gives me a pain in my tail bone on long rides. In case you are wondering, my back is fine, no problems there thanks to the good suspension. Am referring to the bone at the end of the spinal cord terminating on top of the butt. Even on smooth roads it is a pain, since the pillion end of the seat is curved up and pressing in exactly where I referred to.

One more problem (I do not know if it is serious, so knowledgeable bikers help me on this) is that, during cold starts (say the bike not used for 5 hrs or more), when I switch to first gear from neutral, the bike gives a good jerk forward even when I am holding the clutch fully. Sometimes it even switches off. The next time I start her, that is immediately, no problems. This is baffling me. I mentioned this at my first service too, with no results. Am planning to go to the dealer again and take the issue up.

If anyone else faced the same issues as mine or if you have a solution to these problems please post up and let me know. I will also keep posting as I keep pushing my glady more and more to her limits.

Cheers

Julian.
