I would like to write my reviews on gladiator after completing 4 years. Here are the few things you should take a note while purchasing this bike.
I purchased this on 2008 after researching many 125cc categories. I was almost confused between Honda shine and Yamaha gladiator. After few researches I found gladiator is more advantageous than Honda shine. I have also traveled long drive from Pune to Mumbai around 350 km one go. Riding is not so comfortable especially for long drive, you will feel back pain after 30 km and it gradually increases. You have to take break for rest and then drive.
Apart from that Bike has no issues at all except few maintenance items which I will describe here. Cornering is very good even at the speed of 60 km/h you can easily turn the bike to left or right in highway.
Riding is very smooth even at the speed of 85 km/h. good control over braking due to disk brake at the front. I have had a major accident in the year 2009 and I almost saved due to helmet. Service center took 45 days time to fully repair my bike. There is no decrease in mileage even after accident.
One good thing I noticed is even if you drive rash you still get the good mileage which is not the case for other company bikes.
Pros:
-Sporty design.
-Excellent engine power.
-Consistent good mileage (58-67 kmpl) even after 4 yrs
Riding is smooth even at 85 km/h
Cornering is very good
Very good commuter bike for daily travel in city
Ignition stop switch is very useful in city traffic situation.
Cons:
-Painful for long distance travel
- No chain cover for which frequent lubrication is required
-Handel bar not too high – reason for back pain I believe
-Tyre sleeps in rainy roads if you apply medium brake.
-head lamp not producing enough light specially need to be very careful in rainy season night.
-rear shock absorber is not that comfortable in rough roads. Yamaha should replace this with oil type suspensions which mostly come with 150cc.
If you think of 125cc bike this is best bike I ever experienced. I am just curious about YBR-125 which has the same engine of gladiator and having chain cover.
