I made my decision based on Mouthshut reviews & a few ownership expreinces from friends. Hence thought to share with others readers of Mouthshut so that all of you make the right decision.

I bought the gladiator SS (Red/Black) on Sep08 from Pacer Motors, Bangalore and am driving it for about 2200 Kms. I am satisfied with the bike.

Earlier I had a Hero Honda CD100SS for about 14 years. CD100 SS was a work horse which just worked worked & worked and not complaining at all. But it was time to let it go.Initially I thought I was taking a risk with the Yamaha brand & its lesser service network but now I feel its fine.I have done 2 services till now and the dealers (Pacer Motors) response has been very good.

Positives

Looks : Best looks in all the 125CC category. The engine cowl gets the racing edge for the bike and its tall sharp design lets you cruise with enjoyment. Back integrated indicators are good to avoid damage during parking, heavy traffic riding etc. But I did hit the engine cowl once when I had to park it over a raised section of road but again I was riding double hence the shock absorbers would have pulled the bike a bit down.

Mileage: In normal city drive it gives about 60KM/l but if its very frequent stop & go traffic the mileage comes down to about 50Km/l. On highways it gives about >65km/l.

Gear: I am not particularly happy about the toe shift gears. I prefer the all down system like the hero honda. Gladi SS gears is a bit difficult to handle in heavy stop & go traffic.

Riding : Riding & control is super. Even with 125CC it has a decent pickup and can really handle corning very well without any chances of skiding. But you goto drive above 60KMph to feel the thrill. Its really smooth. Also the quality of parts have been very good. Each section of bike is designed for good looks.

Some Negatives

No space to keep your documents, tools etc

Horn sound is a bit low.

Half chain cover even though it looks good does have more maintenance. As the self lubricating chain needs some service for about Rs. 60 once in 3 months. Yamaha seems to going back to its true gene of looks & race biking. This is helping them.
