I was a RX135 owner for last 8 years and finally zeroed in Glady based on the following points.

  1. Yamaha Product(For reliability and peace of mind)

  2. Looks,

  3. Engine and cost. I purchased my ride(Black & Red) on April 10th 2010. Done 7000kms till now.

Generally Glady is not a very fuel efficient vehicle, we cannot compare it head on to the likes of HH Splendor or a Shine. The engine is tuned having in mind executive commuter plus sporty ride style. Hence five gears, alloys, Taller gearing, paper air filter, disc etc.

My Observations: PROS: The Bike feels smooth with pillion and can be ridden all day and also long distances, (I have proof of people doing long distances in Glady from Delhi to up north like Badrinath, Kibber etc). With pillion and without I managed to touch 90kph with minimum vibes.

  1. The Gear shift is butter, and being the typical Yamaha Style with single lever, shifting gears is a dream, but one should ensure the clutch cable is proper always.

  2. Comfy seat for long distance and handle bar placement is proper.

  3. Not very heavy and can be managed with in small roads also.

  4. Engine note is perfect and no unwanted hisses, cries when revved hard, unlike pulsars.

  5. Handling the vehicle with pillion is easy

  6. RPM meter comes in handy and makes a rider responsible as he knows the status of the engine at all times. and helps during cruises and calibration of carb screw adjustments.

  7. Same engine blueprint used in UK, eurpoe and south america and YBR 125 is released but with FI, which means glady engine is known around the world. pulsars run only in africa.

CONS:

  1. It cannot be trusted for instant pickup and initial torque is lessr compared to other peers. This is because of taller gearing and one should not over expect and try to push it hard in traffic signals. it might not help and stress the engine unnecessarily and over heating it there by only lose power.

  2. Battery power is lesser compared to its peers.

  3. Two valve old technology engine, so no new gimmicks like twin spark, three valve four valve etc.

After 7000KM I feel satisfied for the purchase, if at all one buys glady or SS or YBR is because he is a former yamaha bike owner and for it's reliable engine, maybe as reliable as a crux nothing else. who wants four valve engine, twin spark.

NOTE: Glady can be used for long rides because it runs cooler compared to bajaj bikes which has twin spark and is tuned for mileage which may cause overheating on the long rides. Glady is made for the customer in mind and not for market trend, so the package is for user experience and economy is put to back seat.
