*First of all I want to thank mouthshut.com and the users who put the reviews for Gladiator. I am

writing this review after doing 6500 Kms on my Gladiator SS. I bought the bike on 24th Aug 2008.

update:- 9200 kms done

I decided to buy a bike in July 2008 and I decided to first know every bike to the deepest with reviews from all the users.

Initially I wanted to buy a second hand bike or a 100cc fuel efficient bike just for commuting but later I decided to own a stylish bike with fuel efficiency one of my concerns.

Initially I decided to buy a Bajaj Platina as one of my friend had it but he warned me that Platina meant for guys less than 70-75 Kgs . it is very light weight bike and engine is only 100cc and later I experience the same when I drive his bike for 20 kms that this bike is not good for a person like me over 80Kgs.

Then I ruled out 100cc bikes from my menu.

Now I was in 125 cc range had few options like Discover, Gladiator, Shineand other options as well.

for 150cc Unicorn was my choice as Pulsar is very common on Roads and I dont wanted to be one of them following the herd.

I did not wanted to buy unicorn because of the money factor as it is going above 60k .

I was confused but then I decided to follow some reviews on Yamaha as every friend of mine said do not buy Yamahafor no solid reasons .

Then I came to mouthshut.com to see the review of Gladiator SS . I was amazed to see it is recommended by 100% ppl here.

As the bike looks good with sporty looks and SS is specially launched with 28 new features compared to its Standard or JA versions.

The bike is really good in mileage for me now having 90 Kgs or weight it is giving 56 Kmph to me . I am sure it will give above 60 for anyone with 75 kgs or less.I am using normal petrol not any other high octane petrol.

Yamaha as a brand was rejected after RX100 for unknown reasons by people in India. but now after launch of Gladiator and FZ160 I am sure people will again love Yamaha as these bikes are good in every possible aspect.

The bike is good in every aspect Sitting position, Mileage, Style, 5 Gears, Stability at high speeds and the low maintainance promise of Yamaha.

Here are few tips for new bikers:-

For first 1500 kms your bike is like a infant babywhich needs care so don't go harsh on it.

*Please dont drive your bike above 45Kmph for first 500km

Then upto 500-1000km speed 50kmph

Then upto 1500kms below 60kmph.*

First 1500 km of the bike decides the backbone of the bike as the piston and other engine parts make they movements and shape.

Lots of people complaint about low mileage because they do not take care of the bike in first 1500kms and damage the engine parts by driving above 60kmph.

Make sure to change your engine oil in every service. First two services are very important so don't miss them at any cost.

Take care of your bike and it will take care of you.
