Dear folks,

I own a Yamaha Fazer(RED). Its more than a month now driving this Beauty in the City. Thought I would share some things which I found good and bad about this bike so that it could help out few ppl who r interested.

Pros:

  1. Good looking - dont have to elaborate much on this.

  2. refined engine - No vibrations till 100. The sound from the muffler is good.

  3. Handling - The bike has the best pairs of tyres one would want for one their machine. The tyres provide the stability you require when u take corners. Being Radial no fear of flat tyres at midnight.

  4. Driving riding posture - Very relaxed no back pain even after riding for long hours in Bangalore traffic. big plus for ppl who have back pain. Absolutely zero back and wrist pain.

  5. Mid range torque - Best suited for zipping through traffic. The pull from 0 - 60 is good(not amazing). Has the torque you need to keep ur gear shifts minimum. Just keep your right hand working that's enough. You can pull right from 30kmph in 5th gear with no knocking sound.

  6. Cornering - Best of the lot. The Lean angle is just too good. You will have great fun overtaking bikes in corners. The tyres provide the necessary confidence to push both the bike and rider to the limits. Be little careful when you corner the front foot peg tends to touch the road when you bend with full josh:)

Cons:

  1. Top speed - Ppl who like to drive fast will definately get disappointed. The power delivered till 80 is good after that you can feel the bike asking for more revvs from the throttle. You have to work hard with your bike to reach 100. I mean to say here that you cant reach 100 easily the way you reach in a Pulsar 150cc. The bike doesn't go more than 113:((Have reached 115 on my friend's HH glamour). Believe me I had to revv fully to reach 113. Of course ppl can argue where in traffic will you go beyond 60 etc etc. But in real life you do get chances on road where you would love to test the power of your bike and you really dont want your bike to let you down at those times. But cant complain Yamaha also much because the engine is tuned in a way to give more torque rather than power. So just a word of caution for ppl who r really love to revv their bike hard pls dont buy this one, blindly go for R15 you wont regret.

  2. Ground clearance: With pillion be careful on speed bumps your main stand with definately hit. I mean only the big speed bumps which we find in India. This is because of the design of the bike(low slung) which actually helps in handling and lets down in ground clearance. Not much of a problem still a disadv.

  3. Pillion seat comfort - Good for short rides for long drives might feel uncomfortable depending on the build of the pillion rider. The rear foot pegs r placed bit high so this causes discomfort after long travels.

  4. Beware on rainy days - All those dirt is going to get accumulated on ur bike. In case of a pillon rider be cautious enough to wear a rain jacket so that you dont spoil your dress.

Mileage I get is close to 40. Dont expect more than 40 from this beauty.

Things which can make the bike look better - Remove the mirrors, Remove the front number plate and replace with a Sticker one, Wheel stickers from Fz-s. I dont think much more will be required.

Ppl who want to make both the eyes glow together can either get it done in your service centre or can adjust for a while by keeping the switch inbetween high and low beam.

Happy driving.
