Even though this is an FZ with a fairing, it do have some distinctive characters. I have done many short and long rides on this motorcycle. Even though Fazer was never a hot seller for Yamaha, it still has some potential. I would like share some short comings first.

  1. Aggression - when comparing with Fazer V1.0 this bike LACKS THE PUNCH. In terms of in-gear acceleration Fazer V2.0 lags behind the former. Somewhere in the rev range, the ECU restricts the power slightly. So the power delivery cannot be said as linear and it takes more time to pick up speed.

  2. Since this bike is having the same suspension as that of regular FZ and there is added weight up front, the bike tends to NOSE DIVE under hard braking. In emergency braking situations, this may lead the rear wheel to lose traction or lock early. The fairing has also reduced the agility or nimbleness when comparing with regular FZ especially in city conditions.

  3. Even though this motorcycle is having a twin headlamp setup, the lighting is not really great.

  4. Even though the gear shifts are silky smooth and fluidic, it does take a toll when we try to ride this bike hard. When we try to shift fast during hard acceleration we may feel that it could have been better if the travel between two gears was less.

Unlike Fazer V1.0, this bike gives more priority to FUEL ECONOMY than performance. The fuel injection setup has really increased the fuel economy and one can expect 50+kmpl if ridden well during long rides.

The seats for both, rider and pillion, are really COMFORTABLE. It is more wider, softer and offer more support than the former one. The brakes are just PHENOMENAL. Offers great bite and feedback.

This motorcycle performs well in ghat roads and twisties. The fat tyres offer great traction and is definitely a confidence booster.

The mirrors offer great view but one has to lean forward every time to adjust it as it is placed far away. The fairing obliviously gives a BIG BIKE FEEL while riding and offers somewhat decent wind protection especially for long highway runs.
