After having used a Honda Dio for the previous two years, I had almost turned in to a gearless scooter addict. However, a test ride on the Yamaha FZ 16 set my soul free. I need to give a special mention to the Yamaha dealer who converted the impulse into a purchase. I should thank Perfect Riders, mission road, Bangalore. They have a customer centric approach which was truly appreciated from my end.

Coming to my FZ…it’s a sheer pleasure driving this beast on the busy city roads. I have clocked about 3000 kms so far. This bike has ample power to get you up and running on the streets in no time. . The front handlebars are wide and got some time for me to get used to. The machine feels well in sync and riding it feels like poetry in motion. I have seen a few complaints on the gear lever and the gears not locking in to place. However, my experience has been good in this aspect. Initially the gears were hard and made a clicking sound when applied. However, with time, the gears have smoothened out and feel like butter at the moment. I was very much used to the toe shifter since I used my toes on my Yamaha Rx135 sometime back. No complaints on this part too. One special mention needs to be given for the awesome road grip on this beast. You feel confident on any kind of roads that the bike won’t give away.

The bike gives you great momentum from the word go but fizzles out at very high speeds(being a 150cc engine)This machine is a perfect recipe for our crowded city roads but will not be exciting on the highways.

The servicing aspect has been good too. The service outlet at Pefect Riders is pretty fine. I have finished three services so far and the experience has been satisfying. They attend to the vehicle on time and get all the complaints addressed.

I get a decent mileage of about 40-42 kms/lt on city roads. I highly recommend this bike to all of you out there looking for a performance machine. This bike has all the ingredients to keep you engaged!

In brief, the pros and cons can be summarized as:

==Pros:

==

Great pick up and manouverability on busy roads.

Great braking and road grip.

Eye catching design.this bike is a sure head turner!

Great engineering and build quality from Yamaha.

The shock absorbers give you a great feel.

==Cons:

==

Feeble horn.nobody bothers when u you sound the horn!

The fuel tank cap is a disappointment.

Fuel economy is nothing great to brag about.

The bike speedometer is boring and a let down.
