It has been 7 months since I bought my FZ 16 on 8th of November. My odometer reads 3600 Kms in these days as I use it frequently during weekdays and also like to take it out on weekends .I have been a fan of Yamaha since my RX 100 times. Hence was very excited when I bought this bike. But after all many days of driving it I have really lost respect for this bike and Yamaha.

Plus:

Looks – Best looking naked street fighter bike in India.

Performance – Initially till the first service engine was refined, great pick up, gear shift sleek and suspension is damn good.

Handling- Nice handling in city traffic. It is especially designed for this I think.

Minuses-

Overpriced as compared to overall package

Strictly a city bike, pick up is poor after 65 and above 75 it seems out of power. I don’t feel enjoying the drive on highways.

Its seat can not accommodate even 2 healthy people. Hence riding alone is fine but riding with even your slim girlfriend can be uncomfortable for both. Forget ladies wearing ethnic dresses.

Engine noise has become harsher after 4-5 months and not improved even after second service.

Fuel efficiency is about 40 kmpl on sane driving. The tall claims of Yamaha(50kmpl) are nowhere to be found on mileage front.

Chain also started making noise 2 months back and it is too bad.

For nearly 75000 bucks it is grossly overpriced as it is not upto the expectation of a complete bike for weekdays as well as weekends.

My friends were also considering some bike of the range of 75000 and FZ16 was top of the options, but now they are going for new Pulsar180/200.

I still love my bike because, this was the first time I purchased a bike on my own.But I think I could have got a better deal for the hard earned money, .
