Hi everyone,

I bought Yamaha FZ-S (blach cyber green) on 27th dec 2010. Here goes d review.

in my opinion one can buy any of these three bikes: pulsar 180, apache 180 and FZ. all the three are equally good. the reason I chose FZ-S is because of its stunning looks, and its a YAMAHA BIKE.

PROS: 1. its got great looks. its toned down version of internationally sold FZ1(1000cc). the rear tyre is widest among Indian bikes which looks great.

  1. the handling is great. it gives u great control while riding. the bike can be bent easily at turns, again due to wide radial tyre. Most of the bike's weight is at the center of d bike, so we can easily maneuver in the traffic.

The tyre sticks to the ground. turning radius is very small, i.e we can take U- turn very easily with small radius(unlike in pulsar 220 I found it very difficult due to its length).

  1. fuel tank: the fuel tank is stainless steel of capacity 12 litres. it is externally covered by plastic resin which gives muscular looks to d bike. the external tank cover is of three parts, each part can b easily replaced which costs prettty less. unlike other bikes where we need to replace the entire fuel tank.

  2. the front disc brake is d largest among indian bikes. braking is not a problem in FZS.

  3. monosuspension

cons:

  1. top speed is only 110kmph.

  2. exhaust note is not dat great like in apache 180.

3.one more thing is dat, due to short mud guard for the front tyre, the engine part gets dirty. eventually the engine body gets rusted if not taken care of. I see many people ignoring that. I got a metal plate fitted in front of the engine to avoid the dirt falling on the engine.

Many people don't fit crash guard to their FZ's. Because it spoils the looks. I'm one among those ppl. I'm still looking for a crash guard dat fits properly to my bike and doesn't compromise on the looks.

I got 48 mileage as of now. I never crossed 50kmph speed. highway 62kmpl. The engine gets heated too quickly even for shorter rides. mechanic said it happens till the first service..

rest all is fine. I will update further after the 1st service.

hit me back....

Update:

After two services, current mileage is 30kmpl......
