The following is my personal opinion and is not meant to flutter any feathers.

The Yamaha Logo is made of "Music Tuning forks”. Yamaha started as a Music instruments company 130 years back. There machines ride on the road like flowing Music.

Pros:

1) Yamaha Brand -

Is a leading expert in Motorbikes and there on Track Experience means the well balanced chassis and suspension is a piece of art. Absolutely Brilliant. You will fall in love.

Even in traffic at only 4-5 km speed you don’t need to keep your feet down - 140 Section tyre and well balanced chassis

2) Looks:

Honda Uni CB 160 is 92, 000 On road in Bangalore and Yamaha is 96, 000.Compare the looks and Honda is clearly ripping off Indian Buyers.

A Real Head Turner the Yamaha

3) Refinement:

The FI enhances the already refined engine. The gear shift is a delicate, assured "click".

Older Pulsar gear shift sounds as if the gear has fallen on the road!. The whole world would know that you have shifted a gear. Not the Yammy, gear shift is Yummy!

4) Mileage:

You can expect if riding between 60-70 Kmph is - 55 kmpl. Which is Great!?

At 80-95 Kmph Mileage will drop to 43 -45 Kmpl.( have tested for 2500 Km)

Should you buy It?

Points to Consider before you Invest a Lakh.

1) Price - Consider this:

Factory Price is 73, 000.

Add 14.5% Vat

Add 13.3% Road tax

The Government takes 25, 000 Rupees as Tax! Achhe din Kab ayengee.

2) Turning Radius:

For a Small bike FZ has a HUGE turning radius. It’s a Giant Pain to take a U turn.!

Ironically it’s very nimble on the move and when making short turns.

3) Closed Loop Fuel Injection:

Means that Electronic Sensors control the amount of fuel going in to the engine and at the other end of the loop sensors in the exhaust feed information back in to the ECU so that is like closing the entire loop /circle. This allows optimum fuel usage and efficiency.

Always fill from "shell" fuel injectors are sensitive to adulterated petrol and if ever water gets in the tank. On No!.

You cannot Fill it, shut it and forget it.(Nazukh Kali.Pari Hoon Mein!)

4) You may need to, at regular intervals add " Fuel Injector cleaners like "Bardhal Injector Kleene" Rs 5 or 600 for 200 ML bottle to keep the Injectors clean.

If the battery is not yet dead however not "Fully Charged", then the electric pressure motor running the FI will not work. Hence just be careful with your battery. Peak performance of most Batteries don't last for more that 2-3 Years.

Then book a tempo and take your janno(bike) Home!

Or you can try push starting the bike in 2/3 gear with clutch depressed.

5) There is NO Kicker . So No backup in case of battery failure. Remember Closed Loop FI.

The FZ sold in Indonesia(Byson)does get a Kicker. Yamaha Why this Kolaveri!

6) Only the Pillion seat can be opened and there is little storage Space under it. In built Helmet Holder hook and space to keep gloves, gogs and tool kit. The Rider Seat cannot be opened its screwed to the chassis

7) The Seats are hard .Yamaha should supply Gel filled Chaddi's!

8) Since there is a rear tyre hugging mudguard Yamaha will not give a sari guard.

9) The rear Tyre is a MRF Revz - Y Radial should last 20000 Kms and will cost 3500 -4000 to replace. MRF Zapper on the pulsar will last 35, 000 to 45, 000 Kms and costs 2500 to replace.

10) You need to lean on to the handle as it is set forward. In traffic your palms will pain. You can have the handles modified by bending or change it with Fazer handle bar.

11) The suspension even when adjusted is Stiff. Don't expect a Plush ride. It’s a Sports Bike!

12) There is no Fuel Tap so you will need to depend on the not so dependable fuel gauge.
