Yamaha...ask anyone and they will mention the Rx series.either the lovely rx 100 and the faster rx 135.this is the most popular and most wanted bike these days.for before the rx 135 we had probably the most boring bikes that could be ridden with none of them going above the 7bhp mark.im am not talking about the golden era when we had the rd350 and other monsters as such.the rx 100 being a hit back in the 90's stepped down from the pedestal to give way to the new rx 135 which I should say caught on very quickly.

the answer to every question for a good bike that we needed.Yamaha being one of the biggest name in motorcycles has a huge market in india with their RX series.it was every teenagers want for bike and the green jealous monster popped out from yamaha's rivals in india.the bike sales still soaring with the rx 135 unfortunately has reduced due to the introduction of the pulsar.

now lets see why the rx135 was and still india's most popular bike.

POWER HOUSE:-

for years we had to deal with under powered punny motorcycles that were as fast as an autorickshaw or probably even less for a considerable mileage.Yamaha being know for its high quality powerful engines attracted the younger consumers and also some amount of the older consumers.the engine capacity is about 135 cc and whips out a good 14 bhp and 8000 rpm.thats what made us say wow!!the rx135 were first four speed but now you can have a choice to up it to a 5 speed transmission.i would say that a four speed transmission is sufficient for city conditions as we rarely go into 5th .

the acceleration is beautiful.the transmission being nice and smooth is ideal for that if you really know how to ride one properly.the other bikes were left far behind in the market as this yamaha slowly pushed every one of the podium.the engine and the power makes it one of the most desirable bikes we have now.the engine is basically two stroke and due to pollution norms a catalytic convertor has been fitted with the newer versions.the mileage isnt too bad for a bike with this capacity and power.its will give you between 32 to 40 kilometers per litre.its good because that is what kinetics give inspite of having a smaller and supposed to be efficient engine.

THE EXTERIOR:-

this is one problem Yamaha has to tackle in this country.the style hasnt changed one bit from the rx100.this is maybe one of the poorest designs I have ever seen for a motorcycle.they need to start scrapping that look of a cycle with a engine thrown in and get back to the drawing board and bring out a more attractive design for this bike.my thoughts are that a bike with power need to come with looks to match it to give it that overwhelming feel.

the instrumentation is very basic and ordinary and in no way catchy.the yamaha company should also consider putting in a fuel meter.you will never know when the fuel gets over.to check the fuel level you will have to keep opening the fuel cap and peeping into the tank.this is a real disadvantage as petrol is very volatile and will evaporate small amounts when the cap is opened.the biggest part that gives the bike a good look is the design of the fuel tank.this is also a very basic and plain design.the lights can also be changed especially at the rear of the bike.that brake light looks like a brick that has been attached to the back of the bike.

the tires could also be changed to give it a nicer look and the seat is also another thing that degrades its look.from the front the bike looks like those old cycles which used to have those headlights on them.

THE FEEL:-

this is the best part of the bike.maybe the reason people overlook the looks of the bike and buy it.the ride is nice and smooth and is now more comfortable with the attachment of the catalytic convertor.the sound has been reduced considerably from those ear piercing roars to a much more silent bike.you can take the convertor off and put in the old Rx100 silencers but I would advise you to stay green and keep the convertor on.

the acceleration and the top speed which is more than a 110 km/hr is why its india's top motorcycle.the shift from the phase of mileage to performance has given the Rx 135 the upper hand as it gives you both.thus we have total satisfaction.the gear change isnt bad and is ideal for those quick sprints during signal change to get ahead.the handling is also very good.not too heavy and is good for making those quick lane changes during riding in traffic.

THE ORACLE'S OPINION (ME OF COURSE):-

the bike is overall very good.the engine power ,quality ,speed and overall performance like I mentioned earlier sent the sales soaring through the roof.but it now has competition from the pulsar and the upcoming bikes.the prices have dropped to Rs 41,000 making it really cheap and this is also the price for a kinetic.so what would you choose? ahhh the yamaha of course.the company could redo the looks and make look a little finer and fiercer for the power it has.unmatched looks with the power and engine capacity.

but its no problem to anyone as the engine is what we all look at when it comes to yamahas.
