Everybody in india suddenly went into cruiser mode as soon as the kawasaki bajaj eliminator was launched.im pretty sure half of them would picture themselves on it just like Arnie in terminator part two (judgement day).the bike looked good and would give you immense feeling of power once you rode it.it was big ,stylish and eye catching.but those gawking looks soon turned to jaw dropping as the prices were announced.the eliminator being priced at almost a lakh made people turn away and go back to the traditional cheaper motorcycles. one year later the yamaha company announced that they would launch their cruiser the ''enticer''.but at a much cheaper price than its competitor Bajaj.the first time I saw the bike was in an Autocar magazine.it looked really nice on the front cover.

a friend of mine who had just give up his rx 100 due to mechanical problems was interested in the enticer.after it was launched we went to the showroom to take a look at the bike. but my views on this bike slowly changed after I went on a few rounds.

ENGINE-

well since it was cruiser I expected it to have a fairly big engine.but when I began to ask about the specifications I began to think that the bike was a real rip off like the eliminator.the engine is a 125 cc engine generating about 11bhp of power.the transmission was 4 speed which I though wasnt too great.well since cruisers generally had a large engine to give it that muscular look this one looked like a matchbox in a trunk.

now I proceeded to sit on the bike.starting off was ok.the pick up was also fairly good.but it felt more like riding on a yamaha YBX.which has the same engine configuration and transmission.

LOOKS-

the bike was basically made on the basis of the eliminator.from the side and the rear at times it can be a little difficult to differentiate between an eliminator and the enticer.i liked the rear tire as it was nice and big.the tank was well shaped but from the side the bike didnt have that low slung look which we see in the cruisers abroad and like the eliminator.it looked more like an eliminator which has been squashed from the front and the back.the front looks a little weird too. the headlight looked a little small and the crash guards which can be attached looked more like butterfly wings.the bike looked really odd when I saw it go the other way while I was on the road.now you know what they mean by fly first class.

i didnt like the seating either.on cruisers you generally have a upright and outstretched look when you sit on it.i didnt like the way the seat has been designed and the positioning of the handle bars. it makes you look more like the way you sit when there is something dirty on the back rest of a seat when you sit on it.the friend who had bought the bike felt the seating was a little uncomfortable.due to the positioning of the handle bars his arms would hurt while riding.he was a slightly tall and well built person ,but arent cruisers meant to be driven by those kinds of people?

the back rest at the back is pushed slightly in front than the way it is positioned on the eliminator.i had an aching back after I got off the bike after a long ride.one of the reasons to me disliking the bike.

the instrumentation in front of the rider isnt very good looking either.it consists of just one speedometer with lights for your turning and for the neutral position of the gear.it gave the bike a very plain look just like any ordinary bike and not the feeling of making you want to peep a little further into the front to check it out.the front wheel could have been a little thicker to make it look nicer and the mud guard could be styled a little.at 45,000 to 50,000 Rs the bike could have been done up a little more and a few more features could be added to make the bajaj company have a real run for their money.

FUEL EFFICIENCY-

this is the main question that everybody asks when buying a bike.for a cruiser the bike gives reasonable mileage.since it is a four stroke the mileage that you would get out of it would be between 45 to 53 kilometer per litre.this makes this cruiser an ideal bike for our city streets and jamed packed roads.the rising fuel prices also give this bike an upperhand against competition.

SERVICING AND SPARES-

this is not a problem anymore.the bike is one of the hotest selling bikes in the indian market.spares can be bought without having any shortages and even servicing can be done by a local mechanic.but make sure they have a good reputation.wells so far I havent heard of any technical difficulties about this bike from anyone.

OVERALL-

on the whole the bike could have had a bigger engine and the power could have been increased for that amount you have to pay.the looks could have a few touch ups and the seating could be improved.the sound from the exhaust of the bike could also been improved a little.it sounds more like the four stroke city scooters like the activa and the dio.another feature that could also be introduced is an electric start.the kick start on the bike makes it look a little funny when you see a person kick starting it.the handle bars could be less curving and a little shorter to make handling the bike without too much stress.

but this bike is recommended when you are looking for a cheap cruiser bike that you could take around town.event though the looks could be improved by a large deal at the same time it isnt so bad when you want a little financial security.
