My search for a mileage bike had begun once petrol prices started moving skywards. I started looking through mouthshut reviews for the splendor and discover and chanced upon the Crux reviews. Frankly speaking the Crux was never on my mind till I saw the Mouthshut reviews for this product. I actually never heard of the Crux till then.

At the time, the vehicle had a 90% positive rating which itself was a shock since its competitors had a 65% positive rating at the most. I went around the Yamaha showrooms in Bangalore that month to book a vehicle with full cash. The guys disappointed me by saying the vehicle had been phased out of metropolitan cities due to low demand. They told me to pay 2000 Rs and they would source the bike in 15-20 days from a showroom outside Bangalore. Even after 30 days I didn't receive the bike so I decided to purchase the bike from Mangalore.

The showroom in Mangalore was pathetic with its service and didn't connect the odometer wires while passing over the vehicle. I had to do it manually myself.

Soon, after purchase I rode the bike for around 40 kms in the city and then did a 360 kms stretch from Mangalore to Bangalore. This stretch includes the Western Ghats and that too in the Monsoons. During this stretch I was at a constant speed of 60 kms/hr though the manual suggested that since the engine is virgin its best to ride it at 40km/hr for the first 1000 kms. I was very happy with the ergonomics of this bike cause there 3 of us in 2 bikes and I realised how comfortable the Crux was as a pillion rider too.

The mileage after the trip was down to 53 kms/litre. After 3 services I was getting around 58 km / litre.

After the 4th service, I told the service personnel I wasn't happy with the mileage. I didn't mention the Mangalore-Bangalore trip to the mechanic since I knew he would insult me for it.

After service, the guy told me he tuned the vehicle now and the mileage would increase by at least 5 kms. To my shock, the vehicle when ridden at a upper limit of 45 kms/ hr in less congested traffic conditions gave me 78 kms / litre. I decided to give it a try in congested traffic and the bike gave me a mileage of 68 km /litre.

The bike has now completed 6 months and 4500 kms and I'm an extremely happy customer. The gear shifting is smooth, the control and handling is brilliant in traffic conditions. I must say the tiny tyres can cause slippage in the loose sand that u come across around construction areas.

I'd say this bike is perfect if you are clear about what u want out of the machine. If you want to impress the women with it I'm sorry but this isn't the right choice. If u want to reduce your expenses. This is best in its segment.
