Aha, there is a lot of talking that technology and internet seems to have help finding true love in today’s material world. Err, but did I just mention true love? Well, personally, I wouldn’t quite agree. Though, they might (and I say that with raised eyebrows!) act as mere mediums to search for potential lovers.

All right, let’s conceptualize a scenario. Let’s imagine that a girl finds a picture perfect profile with all the vital statistics of the guy matching her’s. Hmm, she is happy and thinks that she has finally found Mr. Right. She starts corresponding with him. He seems a fine guy to her and when he asks her for her phone number, she gladly gives it to him. So they embark into ‘hours-together’ telephone conversations. She is mesmerized by his smooth masculine voice. They send each other their photos and find each other quite good looking. So they decide to meet one day. And when they meet, she gets the shock of her life. Infront of her is standing what seems to appear a grumpy shabby old man totally in contrast to what she had imagined and seen in his ‘years-ago’ photo! Dear readers, sad but true, this could happen to anybody.

However, I am not denying the fact that online dating doesn’t work at all. However, the chances for that are very few. Most of the profiles in such websites are boastful and are projections of what the person would like himself or herself to be as opposed to what the person is in real life!

I am sure many of you will agree with me that to find true love is, perhaps, simpler and easier than what it seems to be. It can happen naturally. You need not force it to happen.

I am no relationship expert but I would like to pen down a few instances where you could meet your potential lover. Always remember that there is someone around you who is receiving your vibes positively:

1) Garden, where you go for your morning or evening jog: Perhaps one of the best places to meet and get to know someone. And the atmosphere and occasion adds to it.

2) At a friend’s house: Every one is invited yet you need not know everyone invited! Others might be looking forward to meet to as much as you would like to get to know them!

3) Coffee Shop: I believe it’s great to be before time ( okay, sometines!). So you are at a coffee shop waiting for your friends to turn up. And as usual, they are late. You find a pretty girl sitting on the other table and alone. Maybe, she too is waiting for her friends. Give here a smile and tell her that you too are waiting for your friends to turn up. I must say here that in making such a move, you need to feel very confident and be natural. And if you are doing fine with that, you will find her picking up a conversation with you!

4) Are you lost?: Chill! Ask a girl. Girls, by nature love to explain directions. And you just need to listen to her explain you how to reach the place. If she likes you, maybe, she will walk with you to the destination!

5) At a gift shop: Another pleasant place. People usually are at their caring-best mood in such a place. You could ask the person if she could help you choose a card for your grandmother! She would be impressed by the respect you have for the elderly and would reach out to help you on that!

6) At the fruit and vegetable market: Even though the best cooks in the world are men, women definitely have more knowledge when in comes to choosing grocery. You may ask the girl to help you choose the grocery and thus strike a connection!

7) College: We all know about it. However, college functions, camping and hiking always have been the perfect settings for courtship!

8) Travelling: Train and bus journeys are long but need not be always boring! Infact they could be memorable sometimes, especially, if you meet and get to know someone special!

9) In the movie/theatre hall and art gallery/ exhibitions: Many girls are fond of literature and art. A perfect place to start up a conversation. You need not be well versed with the subject; the key is to be a good listener!

Thus, dear readers, even being a member of today’s generation, I feel that perhaps meeting someone in person for the first time, sharing thoughts and views and then gradually getting to know each other, is much more romantic rather than the mechanical internet romance!

Don’t you agree with me? :)

Ciao, Chhail Chhabila
