Well....I dont know what side to take on for using the Yahoo Messenger, I think its probably equally on both sides. There are as many positive points as the negative ones.
Its fast and quite user friendly, even first time users dont have much trouble in getting used to it (as goes the saying, there is always a first time)
Its very versatile (i guess thats the word for it) coz u get to meet new ppl (in essence) and thus can share ideas get opinions share ur feelings (as said by gates, the anonymity provided by the net has no contender)
The biggest problem is that it is UNSTABLE it will keep on hanging,(commonly known as booting) and is very very unreliable, some of the common bugs I have discovered,
dont try to close any cam windows while they r over other yahoo windows, this will cause y! m to hang.
If u click on the yes button in a ''view webcam'' window (the window that pops up when some1 invites u to their cam) the cam starts but u wont be able to type in any messages, and similar thing happens if u click twice on the send file. A solution to that is to add some1 from the chat room to ur list and just let it be on the first stage, i.e. dont add them all the way, just leave it at the first page and drag the window to a corner so it doesnt get into the way.
Secondly, there is a huge problem of SPAM and BOTS. Yahoo messenger chat rooms are full of spammers and bots (automatically answering people, who dont actually exist, they arent harmful, just irritating)spammers would try to send u IMs (instant messages) with messages like, <ur ID> visit <some website> for some hot stuff, etc etc. u shud close the window.
All in all, its a good service although it is very very unstable and I would recommend it cautioning tht u dont use it very much. as it can be highly addictive.
