Shantanu Moitra's Quality Product. Review on Yahaan Songs

Parineeta was unexpectedly a wonderful album by Shantanu Moitra. After that extraordinary composed album I was expecting some goody from him. He doesn’t disappoint this time too. Though the movie is not very well promoted as yet but the album is in great guns. One thing I would like to clear here this album is based on Sufi Style not all qawalis but basic pattern is. Gulzar Sahab writes for the album and now the album needs to be discussed.

Naam Ada Likhna

The song starts with big drum beat and one hopes for soft and melodious number straight away and it doesn’t disappoint at all. The choice of singers is perfect lyrics are superb as well the best track of the album. I guess if T-Series have had the album they would be promoting it more than Times Music are doing these days. The song will be surely in top listed songs of 2005.

Mele Chaliyan

Punjabi track and very good one. You listen to the arrangements and the singing so perfectly matched a one very special song. Harmonium and big Dhol gives enchanting effect to the song. If you like Punjabi tracks this is the perfect song for you. Shreya sung it skillfully.

Ajmer Wale Khwaja

Nizami Bandhu

N.Bandhu not only sung the song but composed it as well. A pure qawali lyrics and some extraordinary arrangement. I can’t wait for its picturization, which must be in Khwaja Baba’s Darbar. A qawali not to be missed.

Uzru Uzru

A jolly track in the pattern of Kasto Maza of Parineeta but this time with Kashmir influence in both music and https://lyrics. The children chorus and humming gives a special impression. Another soft and super melodious song. The kind of track you like to listen in certain mood. Arrangements are perfect.

This time more special. Yes the song is remixed but not in a very usual style but with some upbeat and variations. Length is shorter this time but provides full entertainment.

An unusal remix. English lyrics and fast pace change the whole mood of the song. Shan is absent in this version. Shantanu proves his brilliance in this song his anticipation toward music is obvious. He can do any kind of song. Superb track once again.

Kahoon Kaise

Lyrics are in Amir Khusraw style, which goes like this “Maine Laag Ka Ghonghat Khool Diyo Piya Jeet Gaye Main Har Gai”. Arrangements make it a very special song. You like experimentation in music check out this fusion. Last time I heard this kind of fusion from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and now it is awesome.

Yahaan Theme

A better theme. Giving the impression about the movie that it must be a love story having lot of pain inside. The piece is quite unique and must be appreciated by the listener.

On the whole YAHAAN proves to be the very special album of recent times. It would not attract masses but for the segment of people who like melody and some experimentation in music they would certainly love this album.

For SHANTANU MOITRA. Applause. For creating this wonderful album. My expectations from his coming albums increased by leaps and bounds.
