A call girl is a lady associated with a lewd profession. Her professional path is beset with difficulties and she is a victim to social stigma . However controversial her choice of profession might be, she is afterall a woman and she ought to be respected like any other women. This what the director tried to convey to the audience in this movie.
Talking about the positives of the movie the story was obviously one. Though very predictable right from the outset it had a twist in the tale. But the worst part was that the dialogue and the script completely ruined the essence of the story. The dialogues seemed completely unnatural. It could not create the tension that one would have expected from a social thriller of this sort.
Talking about the cast, Parambrata and Paoli Dam are hardened actors when it comes to Bengali cinema . However when it comes to Bollywood they are still struggling to find their feet. That was very evident in this movie too. Paoli Dam tried top be as natural as she could in her call-girl avatar but unfortunately her diction could not emulate the accent of a typical Bombay street girl . Parambrata too was not very convincing .
Furthermore there were many self contradicting parts in the plot. Many parts of the story are left undiscussed, leaving it to the imagination of the audience. For example, how did Paoli Dam who
was thrown out of her brothel go on to form a Ngo.The journey of an employed lady to the head
of a Ngo is left untouched. Apart from that a lot of the story is built on the premises of coincidences,
some of which are rather hard to believe.
The music was not very convincing either. It seemed that the songs were introduced just because its a norm to have songs in every bollywood movie.
Overall the movie was a outright failure though what it wanted to convey was and is a food for thought.
