Originality:

*Yaadein-meaning "memories"

Artists:  Asha Bhosle, Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Hema Sardesai, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Sneha Pant, Udit Narayan, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam, Sukhwinder Singh & K.K.

*When one thinks of such a theme, you think the songs would be fresh and  based completely on it. However, Subash Ghai has allowed someone to make a mess of some of the songs in this well-acted, and well based storyline. Well, come along, and I'll show you what I think of the tracks.

*Jab Dil Miley

Here is a powerful, passion-filled song, which brings together the voices of **Asha Bhosle, Sunidhi Chauhan, Udit Narayan and Sukhwinder Singh.  Sukhwinder introduces the song with his versatile voice, and Udit joins in later. Udit sounds great, and does a fabulous job to get the song going.  Asha Bhosle sounds just OK.  She does not even compare to Udit, and doesn't fit into the song for some reason. I would have easily replaced her with Sunidhi Chauhan, who is barely given anything to sing. Wasted talent  over here I tell you! Average song, but not the greatest.

*Chamakti Sham Hai

Here is a fun and foot-tapping song that will get you into a good dancing mood. The songs begins with an annoying guy, who is chitter-chatting about some nonsense. Finally, **Sonu Nigam takes over, and spares our ears. He sounds absolutely amazing in this song. His voice is always controlled, and he is always prepared to sing.  Alka Yagnik also sings this song; however, she is undoubtedly overshadowed by Sonu.  She sings just okay in this song, and has lost her "Badi Mushkil" side completely. She's not horrible, but just not her best.  Still, the song flows rather nicely, and both Alka and Sonu sound good on their characters.

*Eli Re Eli

This song focuses on each sister's thoughts about marriage, and suits the situation in the movie quite well.  The song is rendered by Kavita Krishnamurthy, Alka Yagnik, and Hema Sardesai. Kavita starts off the song with ease, as she transitions into getting the song going. Hema accompanies her in this transition, and later, Kavita fully takes over from there. Kavita sounds controlled and full of life in her renditions. She takes full advantage of all opportunity to show her versatality. Alka sounds fine with whatever lines she is given to sing; however, her time here is wasted. But, it is nice to hear the Kavita and Alka fusion again, which mesmerizes all songs they sing with each other. Then comes Hema, who shows a lot of vivacity, freshness, and micheviousness in her voice and she is perfect in her rendition. Kavita ends the song with her short laughs, and sounds mischevious. She is later accompanied by Hema in the chorus, but Alka seems to be missing from it after she sings her part for **Kareena Kapoor. Udit Narayan joins along later to pester the girls; however, he is not even credited for singing the song as well. He sounds fine as always, and shares his voice with Jackie Shroff and Hrithik. This is my favorite song of the album and I think everyone contributed effectively. Great job to Alka, Kavita and Hema!

Chanda-Taare

Here is a track that is so disappointing, that pressing the skip button on the stereo cannot be helped. It is sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Kavita Krishnamurthy. This song is a typical and boring "I cannot have you" songs. To top it all off, it has nothing special added to it. Sukhwinder sounds controlled in his highs and lows, and shows he has the talent to sing such songs, but the song is what drains him. Kavita, on the other hand, sounds really upsetting. That's all. I have heard much better from her and I was completely disappointed. Her high notes are way out in left field, and she does not sound controlled at all. It sounds like she is either crying for help, or dying. Her voice, in short, does not suit the song whatsoever.

Conclusion:Boring song, boring singing, so just skip it.

*Yaadein

This is a good song for sharing the moment with your loved ones.  It easily fits into the movie, and touches your heart as well.  The song is rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan, and Mahalaxmi Iyer, and both sound great. The combination of Sunidhi's spicy voice, and Mahalaxmi's sensible and soothing voice are just great.  The only drawback of this song is Amitabh Bachchan's mutterings, which just disturbs the flow of the song. Hariharan ** also sings a similar track as well in the album. Altogether, both versions are one of the best songs in the album.

Kuch Saal Pehle

This song is picturized on Jackie Shroff, who is singing about his marriage to Rati Agnihotri, who died in childbirth. Hariharan sings this one, and he does a good job. His vocals are always smooth, and the song flows nicely because of this. Although a situational song again, it does not do too bad.

*Aye dil-dil ki duniya mein

I have no idea where this song came from in the movie. It is yet again a "Please love me" song. Although situational again, it just doesn't click. It is picturized on a group of band ladies, who aren't even Indian, as so I think.  To make it worse, everyone is dancing in pairs i.e(guy with girl) for a song that just doesn't fit in the scene! IT is sung by Sneha Pant, who sounds brilliant, but it is ruined byKK, who sounds as though someone shoved a mirch up his nose. He sounds absolutely crazy in this song! It is definately better than Chanda-Taare, though.

Altogether, the album is not too bad; however, changes in the artists would have helped for some of the songs.

My rating- 7.0/10*
