I am a Software Engineer with more than 10 years of experience working in a reputed world class company in Pune and was using a Sony Xperia Neo L.
After using Sony Xperia Neo L for around 3 years, I was looking for an opportunity to buy a new mobile. There were several reasons for that. First being a mobile which has a good RAM and shouldnt hang every time. Sony Xperia Neo L was not working when I installed the Worx Home, Adobe Reader, and ofcourse Whatsapp! This phone was just to receive calls and to show my friends that I am using a smart phone as well. Sony had a good quality make, but it failed in performance issues. Camera was horrible and the pictures taken from Sony Mobile were like the ones from 1970's.:(
Fortunately, I was a good performer this year in my company and so my company gave me a good bonus and immediately, the first thing my wife told me was to purchase a good mobile phone.
There were many options and my friends confused me again and again with many of them which I didn't even knew about. Suddenly there was a hype about Redmi Phones and it was a buzz word in our company. One of my friends purchased the Mi3, other one purchased 1s and I had a good review about them from the people who purchased the mobiles.
There was a new mobile flashed on Flipkart called'Redmi Note' which had a bigger screen than 1s and mi3 and it was a target for me. I tried a lot to book this mobile on Flipkart but it used to flash "Not Available". I used to tell myself, "next time" "next time" and this mobile was not available for sale on one fine day.
There was again a mobile launched which was called Redmi Note 4G.!
Immediately I decided to go for this mobile. On the day of sale, I didn't even had my lunch and sat for this mobile. I was logged in at Flipkart and waiting for 2:00 pm. I got my mobile 3 seconds after the 2:00 pm. Flipkart is a good site and I have purchased many things from Flipkart, and there was no issue any of the time.
Flipkart dispatched this mobile to my home location and it was delivered within 3 days. When I opened the package, I saw a great mobile, great size of 5.5 inches which is good for a software engineer like me to read mails, synch the office communicator, and ofcourse chat and forward message on Whatsapp.
When I opened the box, I had the mobile, guarantee card, battery, cable, charger but surprisingly there was no headset, nor the flip cover of the mobile, which is given normally by some Indian manufacturers.
I immediately assembled the mobile and started it. The MIUI is great and it's built on top of Android. The themes are brilliantly designed and I downloaded many of the themes. We tried changing them again and again and the locking screen, user experience is great for all of them. The MIUI updates are freely available and you can download it with a good Wifi. MIUI gives you some very good and handy features, like adding widgets, changing buttons, settings, configuring applications, etc. The applications from Android market are running very well on this mobile phone, so don't think that it's MIUI, so the Android applications from Android market won't work on this mobile, or will work with difficulty. Also, there were news that MIUI is causing the battery to heat up for this mobile. But thankfully the Xiomi has launched a new version of MIUI and wrote patches on top of it, due to which the heating problem is resolved to a great extent. I never felt that my mobile has heated up.
Battery is amazingly well. 3100mAh built in battery can make your mobile work for 4 days when used moderately, which is very good. The battery charges quite fast as compared to it's size.
The Processor is a Quad-core 1.6GHz which gives a very good performance with many applications running on the mobile phone in parallel. There were never performance problems with heavy applications on my mobile. phone., so I feel the processor is very good for this mobile phone. This processor is better than Karbonn, Nokia, Micromax and of course Sony mobiles. No finger pointing on these mobile companies, they have their own style, I am just saying that Redmi is better than them. The 2GB RAM of this mobile is not allowing any of your applications to suffer due to less RAM.
The screen resolution of 1280x720 HD 720p is great and it's very nice to see some pics at 5.5 inches screen size with this resolution. Youtube HD videos are my favourite time pass on my Redmi Note 4G, They are great to view on this mobile.
Xiomi Redmi Note is gifted with 13 MP front camera and 5 MP of front camera and the photo quality is just great to have. Videos are amazingly well and I got some very good flashes in less light as well. Suddenly my facebook account started flooding with my latest pics.
The music quality of this mobile is amazingly well, but I wish Xiomi could have given a headset of an earphone along with this mobile., but that's ok! I am happy with my Sony headset. The recorded calls, or songs, or whatsapp forward audios are all playing very well on this mobile. But the loudness of the speaker is not very impressive with the name this mobile has. If you call someone and put him on speaker, you will not be very happy, as the speaker is not very great, but good to live with it. The FM radio works good, and there are no disturbances during driving or even at a single place at home.
The best part of this mobile was it's 5.5 inches screen size. Go for movie, chatting, video watching or pictures or even game playing., it gives an amazing experience. With this screen size, the mobile is somewhat bigger to be fitted in pocket, but fits very well in Jeans. Just be somewhat careful while driving a 2-wheeler as with Pune road, it might slip down and you can lose your mobile on roads.
Game playing on this mobile is very exciting and since the time my mobile came up, my kid doesnt play on any other gadgets than my Redmi Note 4G. The colors are good, the mobile doesnt hang while you play and the sounds are amazingly good. Great for playing online games as well.
The standard office applications which are very heavy run very smoothly on this mobile. Specially the synching the office mails and chating applications, which are very important for our profession. The synching doesnt take a lot of time and can work faster even when the networks are not very good. Connections to Wifi networks, synching and sending and receiving mails are very comfortable. Since it has a big screen size, typing mails are easier.
Lastly selfies are great on this mobile. With the front camera of 5 mp, the photo quality is great and appears like the main camera picture quality of many other mobile phones. I am sure if you get this camera, you will end up taking more selfies than the main pictures.
Other great thing of this mobile is the price. With Rs. 9999.00, this mobile gives a decent sum of features and quality. Overall this is a value for money mobile and you will need to sit for some time to get used to this new MIUI and to understand it's features, but once you are used to it, you will really enjoy it.
This mobile is easy to use, has a multiple range of features and themes, can support many heavy applications and games etc and has a great style and design. This mobile has a great value of money and I hope it will provide a great reliability and has great durability.
It has a plastic body like many other mobile phones, so little delicate to use, but the hardware damage depends on how the person uses his mobile, how frequently he or she drops the mobile etc., this is what I believe in.
So, to summarize, Redmi Note 4G is a great mobile, comes with a great value for money and has a decent sum of applications and features. With MIUI built on top of Android, it makes a great style quotient.
