Looking at the ratings you must be thinking I gave the rating low just because I am not getting a phone from sale and out of frustration I am writing this review.
But that is not the case. I was lucky enough from those few people who were able to get their hands on this device early due to fast internet.
Don't take me wrong the device is excellent but the problem is not the device itself but the frustation that comes with it. Let me explain. The device is excellent doesn't matter what variant you chose it will give you best performance and great battery life that no other device can give in this price range. Its simply unbeatable.
The frustration that comes is that when you get the device the very first thought of it is definitely get a case or a tempered glass for it and provide it protection and guess what there are no cases that are available in the market right now of the Indian variant. All of them are Chinese variants as the holes for various sensors and mic is different than of the Chinese version
The Indian retailers bought it without thinking that Chinese and Indian variants are different.The problem is that when you buy it every hole is different covering the other.
The second problem is that there is this 2.5D curve glass.In simple terms its not entirely flat but curved like s7 edge not exactly but a little bit to provide that smoothness from the curve while you are using the phone and making the experience more pleasurable.
Now its not a bad thing, no not at all. I would have used a simple plastic screen guard but considering the fact that the glass has no glass protection. No gorilla glass, no dragon tail or anything. Not getting a tempered glass for the phone would be a big foolishness.If it falls down its definitely going to crack and forget about mi customer care going to service centre is foolish as they would ask for the 70% of the device's price for repairs. And at that point it won't make sense to spend that on a 12k phone and deal with all that frustration of wait, your logic will tell you to buy a new one.
Why I am telling you all this is that because of that curved display no tempered glass in market will fit your phone. There will be always bubbles on borders that will cause the whole screen to come off at some point.
Now obviously Mi have provided cases and screen guards but they still are selling products in their website with company's motto 'OUT OF STOCK'
You won't get screen guard, no protection case from Mi because its always out of stock. I have phone with me for the last 10 days and I can't get a proper screen guard in Market and let alone a full flip case. Its just horrible. I can only give you few tips till some solution is there.
TIP 1 - Don't buy the phone just yet even though if you want to, try to be a bit patient for screen guard and cases. Buy them from mi then get a phone.
TIP 2 - If you really want a tempted glass desperately then buy the ones with gap instead of cutouts for sensors the one with gaps on top as they won't cover the sensors and camera even if glass don't fit perfectly.
TIP 3 - Make sure to get a black cover for back transparent one the phone's surface is slippery and may fall down and you know what will happen if it falls down.
TIP 4 - Get Universal or Mi screen guards instead of tempered glass because no company will make a 2.5D curved tempered glass EVER for RN4
