The Mi 5 is Xiaomi's most expensive offering yet. With top-end specifications it has the capability to take on the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7 and it offers all that at nearly half the price.
Design
The first main point to mention here is that it weighs a mere 129g.!
It has a curved back that makes it easier to grip and hold. For the first time Xiaomi has introduced a physical home key at the front of the screen. The Mi 5 has almost a bezel-less
display which gives it a quite elegant look and feel. The phone is made of metal completely and the reflective quality of the phone due to the metal gives it an extraordinary feel. On the left it houses a microphone and right it has the speakers.
Display
The screen of the Xiaomi Mi 5 is a 5.15-inch full-HD IPS LCD with 428 pixel density.It can be a downpoint as most of the flagships offer a 1440p display.
Specifications
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is the first Qualcomm Snapdragon 820-powered smartphone officially available in India. The Mi 5 has been clocked at 1.8GHz for two cores and 1.3GHz for the other two.
There's also 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and also has a Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 compatibility. It houses a 3000mAh non-replaceable battery, and a USB Type-C port for connectivity and charging. A main weakness is the lack of expandable storage. Xiaomi promises a full charge within max within 90 min.
It also has one of the quickest fingerprint sensor that can store upto 5 fingerprints and also has a child safety mode.
Software
It runs Marshmallow based MIUI 7 skin. This software is one of the main plus points of Xiaomi as it offers a smooth and lag-free performance even at lower specs. Te performance of the phone is quick and snappy and lag-free and can handle heavy multi-tasking very easily.
Variants
It's available in 3 variants of 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB all non-expandable.
Camera
It has a 16MP rear camera with a dual LED flash, and a 4MP front camera. The rear camera is capable of shooting video at up to 4K, while the front camera can shoot full-HD video. the camera performance is very quick and snappy and also delivers a great picture and video quality.
Verdict
Xiaomi Mi 5 is a great smartphone in it's price range. It offers a flagship level competition to the high end smartphone vendors' flagships like that of Samsung Galaxy S7 etc. and that too at half the price. The build quality is very nice and it looks and feels very much premium and along with this, it promises a very fast and lag-free performance.
This phone is a must buy if you are looking forward to buy on in this price range. Also if you are willing to buy a high end smartphone, you can surely consider the likes of Xiaomi Mi 5. :)
