This phone was advertised as INTEL XOLO but I am glad that Mouthshut has rightly put it under LAVA category of phones. Although the packing of the phone reads Intel in big fonts which is what you tend to look at when purchasing the phone but once you bring it home, you notice that it is'A LAVA product' in small fonts on the back side of the box that you didn't pay much attention to while at the shop.

As many have already mentioned in their reviews on this phone, some even after using it for ONE WHOLE HOUR, the phone is fast. So lets say Whatsapp opens on other Android phones(of the same price range) in 1.2 seconds and our super fast Xolo completes the same task in 0.7 seconds. A savings of 0.5 seconds might be a giant leap for mankind for some of you nerds, but to me its not really something to go gaga about. Speed is definitely a pro but similar to any Android device.

Now that we know that all Android devices offer similar performance, what is it that which could set Xolo apart from the others, you may ask. Service is the answer. I could bore you to death with the details of my story with Xolo customer care but here it is in as few sentence as possible - Phone screen went bad. Called the customer care who asked me to push various buttons on the phone in combination. Didn't work and since they have no service centers across India, the only way was to send it via their affiliated courier to their Noida service center. Their courier guy didn't turn up for pick up for 11 days, despite repeated calls to their customer care, so finally managed to get hold of a courier service which would deliver my phone to their service center. Phone was repaired and returned in another 5 days. Was able to happily use it for one day after which the screen went bad again. Called the customer care again to tell them what shoddy repairs had been done and got told "Humein nahi pata unhone kaise theek kiya hai. Hum matter ko escalate kar rahein hain, aapko call back aayega". The call back never came for 12 days until which time I kept called repeatedly everyday begging for a refund. Finally got a call from the manager who arranged a pick up again and after 10 days I have the phone repaired with me. So basically I was without my phone for almost 45 days. I hope the screen doesn't go bad again!

The company prides in having an 8MP camera with burst mode and all that but the picture quality is no where close to the photos I used to capture from my 5MP Nokia phone camera which is now 3 years old. Unhappy again!

Lava has created a Facebook fan-page for the phone - https://facebook.com/MyXOLO. However users are not allowed to make their own posts. Any comments on the posts made by Lava that are of critical nature are duly removed within minutes and only cheeky posts singing praises of the phone that come across as fake stay there. This says a lot about what is being concealed from potential customers.

When the phone was launched it came with Android 2.3 Gingerbread with the promise that an ICS 4.0 would soon be available. It took months before the promise was kept and by that time Jellybean 4.1 was already out making the upgrade obsolete already.

What I have come to realize is that, with iOS and android on most devices, apps and performance are more or less similar on all devices. However when the phone breaks down and your utmost priority is to be connected again, service takes importance above all else and this is where Xolo falls short. The phone is Intel but the service is totally Lava.
