With the release of the 2 smartphones in the last 3 months, the market for samsung and micromax has certainly seen a raise as they launched GRAND and HD canvas respectively.
People were very much confused as to which one they should opt for? GRAND or HD?
Well, if you haven't drawn a conclusion yet? Here's a answer to all of your questions.
Lava also launched its series of smartphone with balanced pricing, and range of features. One of my friend suggested me this phone, its name was LAVA XOLO Q800. I immediately googled about this phone and found many reviews which were all 5 stars or 4 stars. At first instance I found it quite fishy because I had never heard of a smartphone from Lava which actually existed. I started gathering information and finally decided to buy it, and one more reason could have been that I wasn't much interested in samsung either micromax phones as I have had my own bad experience with these brands. Although I feel samsung are going great guns and even micromax is in the race to come first, somehow I had a negative vibes towards both the brands.
Before my review I would like to mention the specifications of my new android phone.

Sound Reception : The sound reception is pretty good and one cannot make any fusses about this section. Lava always had problems in terms of sound reception, but the Xolo series had overcomed this fault.
Ease of Use : The phone is excellent and user friendly. Even a amateur android user can feel at ease while using this phone. And its very much self explanatory.
Style & Design : At my 1st glimpse, this phone seemed similar to one of LG's phone. And as we all know that LG too is good at designing phones and the style also is very classy.
The phone is quite stylish and the design is very well built.
Range of Features : This cell phone targets the lights of grand and hd canvas and has a wide range of features. I especially love the yamaha music search engine. Its very good and one of its kind.
Reliability & Durability : This phone although seems very durable, but disappointingly its a bit fragile and its been around few weeks i've been using this phone and its developed slight scratches.
Value for Money : As I was gifted this phone by my bro, money din't matter. But yes in 12,500 its a grand steal and with this phone one can live HD(BIG) life.
Better buy them before they get sold out, the first lot of phones came in and it was totally sold out. Now recently one more batch of production has come in so better grab it rather than repenting later. Maybe this series is so much in demand and people will refrain from buying the other series of lava, they might stop the production of this cell.
Hardly any cons encountered till date and mentioned below.
The headphones quality is bad, one can use sony or apple's headphone (3.5mm jack)
The availability of service center is a big problem, although my cell phone hasn't encountered any issues till date, but a nearby service center is a must. There is a service center which is around 20 kms from my house.
I miss the LED notification light, as it gives indication on receiving messages, calls etc.
Many many pros this phone has, and the list can be never ending.
Firstly I would like to mention the camera which is 8 MP is awesome and its has BSI Sensors. I have compared the quality of the image from my cell and the quality of image from my friends cell which is also 8 MP, and I would say I won it. XOLO Rocks as it has a classy camera and can be compared to the SONY'S, SAMSUNG'S etc
This 4.5 inches cell fits the pocket perfectly and is within budget too. Thanks to XOLO they din't design it to be a 5 inches screen as carrying it along is a big headache.
The capacitive touch is awesome and very smooth, and has a quick response too. Even using as much as 10 application simultaneously, the mobile functions without lag and works smoothly.
The battery too is better as compared to the phones in this range. Infact its slightly better than the rest as it works for a full day with full usage of multimedia, internet etc etc
There are double sensors present in this cell. Its quad-core and with 1 GB RAM, I think lava has given its best. May be people won't buy it because of the brand name but this few weeks with this phone was really very good. Hope so they open a service center nearby very soon.
It plays full HD videos without any lag and interference and recording a video is as good as one is recording in sony or samsung.
The yamaha audio chip helps in good loud quality of speaker.
Gaming is also very smooth, the quad-core makes this phone very special. One of my friend has Sony's phone which is worth 16,000 and while playing games the phone lags badly. I mean what is the use buying so expensive phone and not able to play small games on it?
It has good speech recognition too. One bad thing is that the accessories for this phone are not available easily. I am still using the phone without silicon/plastic cover and waiting to buy one asap.
My views : Word of mouth can make this phone a huge hit, and even marketing can. But I don't think the marketing is done sufficiently from their side.
Final verdict : Don't worry about the brand name, this one is one of the best among budget smartphones beating GRAND and HD Canvas too.
