It took 8 hours delayed flight, a painful day at Kolkata including a very eventful(trust me you don’t want to know the details) journey from Howrah station to Jamshedpur to reach my destination, but like people say ‘to reach the heaven, you must die’, so I did;-).
I am one of the students who joined XLRI while working somewhere or the other, to have some value addition to their resumes however for me; it was a dream…to be there… to feel the place and it didn’t disappoint me either.
Campus is happening, infrastructure is good enough and faculty is nice, still there is something that turned me off. This place is known for its close knitted family. However the kind of students I saw in my campus visit was really disappointing. I am sure the purpose of starting satellite courses from the campus must be to help people like I get decent higher studies however it’s badly diluting the values of the place.
Students walking in the 2 hrs session an hour late if they decide to show up at all. Mobiles set on super high volume and people attending the calls right there was something that did not show that these people are professionals anywhere. More than once faculty refused to take the sessions with such an audience and I could not blame them at all.
However place itself seems to be an ideal place to cultivate real talent. The environment, well planned construction and people out there help you grow as a person and professional.
Even though I have taken the benefit of their generous management program, still I wish XLRI would stop giving the pleasure of being an XLRite in just 1, 80, 000 INR.
