What can be said about this London foursome, but that they are super sonic innovators!

Chris Martin with his ever-so-British-irresistibly-appealing vocal styling, as the focal point and, bandmates, versatile guitarist Jon Buckland, quiet bassist Guy Berryman, and steady, often powerful drummer Will Champion all coming together to form the undeniably awesome band…. (Bring on the drum rolls TA DA TA DA) COLDPLAY

I hear that Rolling Stone has labeled the British quartet as the next Radiohead, even that they could one day become the next U2 and better still the best alternative rock band in the universe…. But just hype doth not a good band make. Here's why I like them and of course why you should too.

Coldplay has got this ethereal cosmic quality to their music, which just has to be heard, to be believed! Their soothing soulful rhythms never fail to calm those fraying nerves. Almost celestial – like it’s coming from a faraway heavenly land. In other words, music perfectly tailored for listening pleasure.

I highly recommend you to listen to all their albums…Parachutes, Rush Of Blood To The Head. But getting down to what I’m here for...the latest - The X&Y album is simply superb. It'll silence their critics, amaze their fans and win them a whole new legion of admirers. It might even bring about world peace! I'm sure that was one of Chris Martin's objectives for this album...

"Square One" opens the record in typically anthemic fashion: 'Is there anywhere you want to go? The future's for discovering'. X&Yis full of touching eulogies such as "A Message" and "Swallowed InThe Sea" which express complete and honest love. Their powers peak on "Talk", a fantastic song that is, on an album of big songs, positively gargantuan.... more evidence that Coldplay are far and away the best at what they do. Other album highlights include "Low"features some awesome guitar licks. And the secret final track, "'Til Kingdom Come", where the threadbare acoustic guitar contrasts wonderfully with the big album sound. Then with “The Hardest Part”, “X&Y”, “Low” “White Shadows” “Twisted Logic” “What if”the good stuff just keep coming "Fix You" is the best ballad of the lot, continuing where "The Scientist" left off, climaxing in the grandiose, emotional bursts that this band has mastered. And then there’s nothing more to be said for the chartbuster –“Speed of Sound”…maybe mind-blowing will suffice!

With their latest album X&Y album Coldplay is launched into a new galaxy altogether and it's only a matter of time now that new "satellite" bands start ripping Coldplay off, hovering around the band's orbit, waiting to see what they pull off next. Musically, the band has never sounded more adventurous, all the while sweeping aside those criticisms to embrace a massive, moving sound that makes simplicity seem sublime. I can almost take the liberty to say that you haven’t heard alternate rock until you’ve heard Coldplay. Take it from an almost obsessive Coldplay lover. Listen to their music and you’ll automatically join theColdplay lovers’ bandwagon. Happy Coldplaying!!!
